Free Music Notes for Real Live Roadrunning (with DVD)Free Music Review: Perfection, bungled Hit: 4 StarsI love this music, and I loved it before I ever ordered this DVD. After watching it, I can only shake my head at the fools that photographed and edited it. These songs deserve sustained attention, and this duo of clowns seem like they couldn't even successfully navigate a pedestrian crosswalk without veering off into some other endeavor. Jurg Walter supervised photography (Won't it be INTERESTING if we walk around, shake the camera at long zoom ranges, and have trouble focusing?) and William E. Bullen, clearly under the influence of heavy stimulants at the time, did the editing (I'm BORED with this shot! It's gone on eight seconds already! Let's do something completely different!)
What can I say? I love the music. I watch the DVD in spite of the photography and the editing, although both are intrusive, incompetent, and stupid. Seems unfair to knock the rating down too much just because the artists let some idiots handle the video. 4 stars - could easily have been 5, if they had just set a few cameras on tripods and used that footage instead of being "creative".
Free Music Review: The best music DVD today! Hit: 5 StarsThis live recording capture the true essens of two worlds from the top music worlds. Mark's fantastic ability to get deep into the country style, and Emylou's soft and emotional expression just makes the concert a delight. The video and sound of this DVD is just absolutely great, and i can only award it my best recommendation here.
Free Music Review: mark and emmylou Hit: 5 StarsTHE SOUND QUALITY IS EXQUISITE FOR A LIVE RECORDING, AND BEING LIVE WITH A LARGE AUDIENCE MAKES IT INFINITELY BETTER THAN A STUDIO SESSION. THE VISUALS ARE GREAT WITH CLOSEUPS OF THE FINGERING ON THE INSTRUMENTS AS WELL. I WISH THERE WERE MORE DVDS AVAILABLE FOR THEIR OTHER CONCERTS. I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS SOME DISTANCE FROM CONCERT VENUES AND WOULD LIKE MORE CONCERTS LIKE THIS ON DVD. I ALSO BOUGHT MADONNAS DROWNED WORLD CONCERT DVD AND FOUND IT TO BE EXCELLENT. I BECAME A FAN OF HERS AS A RESULT OF THAT DVD. I WOULD LIKE AMAZON TO HAVE A CATEGORY OF LIVE CONCERT DVDS WITH SAMPLES AVAILABLE LIKE ITUNES HAS BEFORE MAKING THE FULL PURCHASE.
Free Music Review: Great Live album Hit: 5 StarsGenerally speaking I am not a big fan of live albums but this one is different.
It is not a copy of the regular album. the recording is great you hear the live performance without too much "noise" of the audience.
Booth the DVD and music album are great to look or listen to.
There are quiet a few new songs. Just great pleasure to listen to
Free Music Review: Roadrunning is pure class Hit: 5 StarsI really enjoyed the "All The Roadrunning" CD, but I had some disappointment that it appeared to lack some energy. Then again Mark Knopfler put together the CD that was recorded at various sessions during a eight years span.
BUT ....this DVD is really where it is at. It has all of the energy, power, class, beauty, excellence of two of the great, legendary artists who blend together like Peanut Butter and Jelly.
What is particularly great is how well Mark and Emmylou's voices gell together into wonderful harmonies.
Besides, Emmylou looks fantastic. Mark looks like Mark, wrinkled jeans and all, looking like a accountant on his day off.
The talent, the songs, the band, the pace of the video, is wonderful.
I have felt for years that Mark Knopfler is an absolute superstar in the music industry. He can do it all. No one is a better lyricist, songwriter, guitarist (with great flexibility), producer, engineer and writer of music scores for movies. He also was the leader of one of the best and unique rock bands and commercially successful rock bands, Dire Straights. Know any other rock guys who would be asked by the late, great Chet Atkins to play and record with him ?? He has a marvelous sense of humor as well.
Yet, this guy can walk the streets in the U.S. anyway, anywhere and be left alone. That is if another Musical artist or Movie Producer/Director doesn't see him. One of the funniest interviews I ever heard was with Rob Reiner (yes Meathead), the Director of "The Princess Bride", and Knopfler, who wrote and preformed the expansive musical score for the movie. Mark had to create some original classical, orchestral music for that one. Mark not only held his own with the Reiner, a former comic and son of legendary
comic actor, writer and producer, Carl Reiner, but out did Rob with his humor.
Mark Knopfler I would say is THE ONLY, great guitarist who I always want his solos to be longer.
Marylou, your sweet voice, still puts chills running up and down my spine.
We are fortune to have these two veteran greats together, merging their talents in this one.
