When the package containing this album arrived this afternoon, I intended to give it a quick once through; it is now eight hours later and I am listening to "Waltz Across Texas Tonight" for the third time. There is so much about Emmylou to discover here - I have never heard of many of these songs before. My loss until now.
The packaging is beautiful but challenging to we seasoned citizens with arthritis from picking up wet change from bars for 40 years. All in all, well worth the effort.

So far I have only heard all the tracks once. Some we know others not too familiar. What I heard is the greatest collection of Emmylou's numbers and really there is no reason to buy any other albums of Emmys at the moment, except for the slightly different variations. All The Road Running is different of course. So in future I'll listen in small steps or just find time to listen to the whole album again.But it is a winner and ideal for Emmylou collectors. Amazon service was great - package is expensive but you get alot. Much of the video is available online in various forms but not always at this quality. Some of the unpublished material justifies the purchase for me. Yes there is republished material but since I don't tire of listening to Emmylou, it is fine with me. Fine accompaning material. The box is covered with cloth that in my case had a couple of wrinkles but I care more for the songs than the packaging.Free Music Review: Emmylou Addict

I have not yet purchased this item but plan to this week because as far as I am concerned Emmylou has never sang a bad song or note in her life. She is truly an icon in American music. I have everything she has ever recorded and don't mind the duplicates at all. I especially look forward to the one previously unreleased. "Songbird' is a wonderful overview of Emmylou Harris' career, including track-by-track annotation by the artist herself in an excellent book included in the box set. This should find a welcome audience among those who are long-time fans, as well as those wishing for an introduction to her career. Once you hear the songs in this set, you'll want to search for the individual albums as well.
