I was please with the condition of the CD and the pamphlet cover was also in good condition.
Free Music Review: Disappointed Hit: 3 Stars
Note: this is a review of the soundtrack, not the movie.
I've been excited about this movie since I first heard Alan Menken was going to be involved. I grew up on and love his Disney work, and was sure I'd love this. Well, I have to say I was disappointed.
When it comes to soundtracks, the songs can be good because they remind you of the feelings you got watching the movie, and/or they can be good strictly of their own merit. I heard the "Beauty and the Beast" soundtrack and "The Little Mermaid" soundtrack before I saw the corresponding films, and they amazed me all the same. This soundtrack is good for reminding one of the film, but as a stand-alone soundtrack, it tends to fall flat. The songs are okay, but I won't be listening to them when I have other Disney soundtracks on my ipod.
I think this is the first time I've liked an album's instrumental songs more than its lyrical numbers. My favorite is the Enchanted Suite. Of the songs with lyrics, I'd have to say "So Close" reaches the bar the best.
An okay soundtrack, had there not been two years of hype; but as it is, it fell very short of my expectations.
Free Music Review: Songs great, instrumentals great but..... Hit: 3 Stars
The songs are great and before you know it you are singing along. The instrumentals are lovely as always. How the cd was put together is very dissappointing. Instead of the music telling the story of Enchanted as is done on both the Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid cds, the music for Enchanted was put on the cd in a divided fashion. On this cd, the music with lyrics are all first then all the instrumentals are next finishing with the single song "that's amore" sung by James Marsden. What a shame. When listening to a soundtrack the music ques in scenes and emotions without the visuals. Out of sequence, the music looses its flow and no longer tells the story. Also is the fact out of like 15 songs, only 6 have words. Again if the music followed the movie, this would not be so apparent. For children, it makes the instrumentals seem very very long after the fun of singing the songs.
Free Music Review: Good for your Enchanted fan Hit: 3 Stars
My daughter and I love the movie, so we ordered the soundtrack as soon as we could. The first five songs are wonderful. After that all that's left is the instrumental score--boring for a child. We play the first five songs only, but they're worth the price!
