Free Music Notes for A PosterioriFree Music Review: a natural evolution Hit: 5 Stars
The latest Engima album A Posteriori is a natural evolution of Enigma's sounds as Michele Cretu's musical stylings mature. Smooth and Melodic filled with soft background beats and rythmic guitar rifts that follows in the path of Delerium, Honeyroot, and Royksopp. I can see why fans of classic enigma works would be dissapointed but i believe the course of which enigma has chosed to go is a good one. You can only do the same thing for so long before it gets tired and old. Every musical group that continues refines their style and sound as they go on. Groups and artists like Pearl Jam, Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, Seal, Moby have all altered their sounds as their careers have gone on. Sometimes change is good, other times the fans don't like it so what can you do.
for people who didn't like the Voyageur, you may not like A Posteriori as it is sort of a morph between earlier Enigma and Voyageur.
I think michele cretu should be applauded for seeking out new avenues for his musical stylings, while they aren't the same, they certainly aren't completely different either. Either way check out A Posteriori and decide for yourself.
Free Music Review: I was taken away from this planet. Hit: 5 Stars
Enigma has a great pro: Takes its escence of its music, while blends it with fresh beats and sounds. This work shows great traces of soft and aggresive electronica blended with an "outer space" atmosphere. When I listened to the CD, I felt taken to somewhere next to the moon, looking at the stars and the Earth in front (possibly most of the track titles would push me into that thought). Enigma evolved for the good through time, and this is the product. Song like "Good bye Milky Way", "Dreaming of Andromeda" and "Northen Lights" would relax yourself and feel great emotions; while "Dancing with Mephisto" and "Feel me Heaven", would give you a great blast with a little more agrresive electronica and faster beats. Something I would have prefered is a different picture for the CD cover, I think I would be great a great space picture of a nebula, the Pleyades, a supernova or something; but anyways, after listening to this, that will be the last thing you might be thinking about. Great job Michael!
Free Music Review: Enigma's Ongoing Journey Hit: 5 Stars
After reading through other's reviews, it seems that people who are used to Enigma from the previous albums are those that are most disappointed with this album. I own all the previous Enigma albums, and this one is a bit of a departure from them. Yet, I still think it retains the essence of Enigma. If you like "From East to West," "Smell of Desire," "Endless Quest." You'll probably like this album. It has more emphasis on instrumental, and less on vocals. My particular taste in music is for trance and electronica. Groups like Juno Reactor, Fluke, and Orbital also appeal to me. This album seems to lean more towards that style as a couple of the tracks almost seem trance-like. Also, those groups have tracks that dip into the 'Enigma' style as well. If you like good electronica as a whole, you might be interested in this album. Enigma's track from this album, "Hello and Welcome" is quite reminiscent of "Bermuda" by Fluke.
Free Music Review: Love Enigma more and more Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a huge fan of Enigma for years and have all their CD's. I read reviews for Posteriori before I ordered it and was surprised at the mixed reviews. I will say that in my humble opinion Enigma just keeps getting better and better! They have a very distinct sound and that sound is what I want from them. I don't have to analyze music to death to know that I like it, and that it touches my soul. If the rythyms move me, what more do I need? When I got Voyaguer,I put it in my car CD changer and didn't take it out for a month, and Posteriori will be very much the same. Some people think Enigma should change their sound....if they did, it wouldn't be Enigma. Be thankful they continue to do what they do best.
My only complaint is that it's too long between new CD's. I'd be happy if they could release 2 or more new ones in a year.
E.X.C.E.L..E.N.T.E.
