Free Music Review: A Voyage to go on!
Hit: 5 Stars

This newest album of Enigma's is absolutely amazing.

"Voyageur" is completely different from any of their previous albums, having none of the samples or the ethnic Gregorian chants that dominated their first four albums.

This newest album is more of a trip-hop and New Age/ Dance album with some mainstream appeal in some of the songs. The only thing that reminds me of any of their older albums is that trademark horn intro in the opening track "From East To West" but taht melts into an original song altogether and it's amazing.

"Incognito" is a grating in my opinion especially with the annoying voice at the beginning.

However I love the final track "Following The Sun" which is a very intense and uplifting, cheerful song worthy of being released as a single in the near future. I especially love how the song ends on a dark note, ending the album.

Do not listen to these negative reviews. "Voyageur" is a smartly produced album and Cretu was ready to leave behind the "Sadeness" Enigma and move forward with a new facelift for Enigma and I'm proud of it!

You will not be dissapointed by any means! Buy it today!

Free Music Review: An Excellent 5th
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been listening to Enigma since the beginning and think this is a great 5th work to bear the Enigma name. I've read a lot of the reviews here out of curiousity (I had the cd before checking to see what other people thought of it) and have to say that a lot of the reviews/opinions that portray Voyager in a negative or disappointing light are a bit too narrow minded (in my opinion). The only complaint I have, is that I feel the cd is just too short at ~45 minutes - it should have been an hour. The Enigma feel is definitely still present, but in a different way. The arrangements are a bit more sparse and more rhythmic in nature (in a slightly funkier way). I like this new(ish) direction - it's good to see some evolution and change in sound (but not a complete switch). I've immensely enjoyed the previous 4 Enigma cd's, but am glad this cd didn't come out as more of the same. I understand an artists desire to not keep rehashing the same sound everytime. Let the music speak for itself and let Voyager stand on it's own - don't try to make it fit into your expectations of the Enigma sound based on what has come before. If you look at it that way, you probably will be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Cretu turns the page in Enigma's book
Hit: 5 Stars

I've spent many a night listening to Enigma and own all of their cd's. Michael Cretu is simply amazing and Vogageur is another example of his creativity. Many people envision Enigma from the early accomplishments and don't appreciate Enigma's later hits.

At first I was hesitant with the contrasting styles exhibited, but the more I listened the more intriguing it became. Vogageur rates #2 on my list of Enigma compilations behind their third cd Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi! The highlights on Voyageur are Tracks 1,2,4,5,7 and 11. Track 1 has an pulsating beat that is extremely catchy. From a vocal standpoint, Track 11 is very "Enigmatic" sounding.

A friend of mine, a first time listener of Enigma, was hooked after the first track of Voyageur. Normally he listens to bands like The Doors, Led Zepplin, Pete Yorn and Cake, so this was quite a switch for him. If you're already an experienced Enigma listener, don't give up on Cretu yet. Close your eyes and appreciate the experience created by this wonderful cd.

Note to Cretu: Your next project should be a remix of Enigma trance style!

Free Music Review: if you don't like this you are not an enigma fan
Hit: 5 Stars

i've seen a few people on here talk about how they hate this albu, how they hate Michael Cretu's singing... WTF, if you hate his singing then stop listening to enigma, cos he IS enigma and his voice is amazin... and im glad he sings more on this album cos i love listening to his voice....

the album is different from other enigma albums, and its BETTER... and the reason i say this is because earlier enigma albums always have tracks that are only a mintue or so long, normally the opener, and the closer which in my mind is a totally waste of a track (the 3rd of its kind... whats the point of that?)

its not the best enigma album, but it kicks 7 shades of &&^%& out of the first 2 albums... i love sadeness and return to innocence as much as the next guy, but get over it, the albums are old and boring these days...

its not as good as Enigma 3, which i think is one of the best albums, even though it has pointless tracks on it (oddasey of the mind? wtf is that?)

Free Music Review: Sheer, Unadulterated Brilliance
Hit: 5 Stars

To put it simply: Cretu hasn't done it again, he's done it for the first time.

What I mean is that he has, for the first time, created a truly perfect album. Voyageur, the 5th album by Enigma and the first album in the "new chapter", hits all the right buttons and turns all the right knobs. This is simply the most brilliant album that I have ever heard, hands down, no question.

Expecially noteworthy are Cretu's manipulation of various voices - many of the "instruments" you hear in this album are, in actuality, digitally encoded voices! I can't begin to explain how brilliant this is; it shows the world just how versatile the human voice can be.

The "official review" on this page talks about Enigma's "easily digestible" sound. Well, I must ask: What was the reviewer smoking when he wrote that? This is easily the musically deepest album to be released in the last few decades. It begs to be listened to over and over again. In fact, I think I'll go listen to it some more, right now.
