Free Music Review: In His Father's Footsteps Hit: 4 StarsBeing the son of legendary Julio Iglesias it was no coincidence that Enrique would become a singer aswell. Blessed with good looks, charisma and a smooth romantic voice, Enrique debuted with this English album in 1999. Many of the hit songs here are latin uptempo's like "Bailamos", "Rhythm Divine", "Alabao" and "Oyeme" that perfectly came in a time where Latin music sold well to the English market (Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Jlo, Shakira) but there are also great powerballads like "Be With You", "I Have Always Loved You " and "I'm Your Man" and covers like Bruce Springsteen's "Sad Eyes" and top notch duets "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" with Whitney Houston. There are also spanish versions of 3 songs towards the end, including the big hit "Rhythm Divine". From a commercial point of view, "Enrique" had it all and it sold really well also. Enrique was the artist on everybody's lips in 1999-2000. He would later release "Escape" that was also good and lastly "Seven" in 2003 that was a dissapointment. Now it seems like he's spending more time being a celebrity and dating hot models then being a good singer. A shame. "Enrique" is an exellent pop album though, recommended.
Free Music Review: Love this hottie Hit: 5 StarsI had to buy this cd again because my other one got ruined- totally worth the money- this cd is the best
Free Music Review: Great album Hit: 5 StarsI got this album when it was first released, when I was fourteen or so. I saw the video for "Bailamos", and I knew I had to have this cd. Years later, I still find myself sitting here listening to it. I absolutely love this cd. It was honestly life-changing for me... It inspired me to take Spanish classes in high school, and I wouldn't be where I am today if not for those classes.
Some of the songs aren't great. I don't really care for "Sad Eyes", and I hardly ever listen to the Spanish versions of anything but "Rhythm Divine". However, the rest of the tracks make up for it. "Bailamos" is still one of my favorites, and it has been years since I first said that. "You're My #1" has beautiful lyrics, and it is sung with incredible emotion. "Oyeme" and "Alabao" will make you want to get up and dance.
Overall, this is an excellent album. If you like any kind of pop or latin music, this is a good album for you.
Free Music Review: "ENRIQUE" - Masterpiece Of Music Hit: 5 StarsI first heard "Escape" in summer 2002 and really got in to Enrique Iglesias. I went on his website to find some information about him, and thought Escape was his first album, but found out he had done one before this called "Enrique" his english language debuet recorded with Interscope records. Even though some of the tracks have spanish titles they are all in english. The album was recorded and released in the summer of 1999. I was probably a little too young to appreciate Enrique's music then, but I do now and this album has opened my mind to many different types of music. I listened to clips of the songs on this album on his web page and was really impressed. I fell in love with this music as soon as I heard it, and never since have I loved any music so deeply. I was never really in to music before this album, but it is so beautiful and full of rhythm I bought a copy and have cherished it ever since.
Enrique really opened up a part of my life that had been shut off before, and it is a joy listening to this album.
This album turned me on to Latin music and this remains my favourite album, even four years later.
I absolutely loved Escape, but loved this album much more and I found something very special in it.
"Rhythm Divine" is my favourite song on the album and is the best latin song ever. The lyrics are great and the tune and beat is even better. It is far better then anything Ricky Martin has done. Even though I like Ricky Martin's music, I much preffer Enrique's because it seems to be much deeper and if you are a fan of Enrique Iglesias this is the album to buy.
"Be With You" is a great dance/pop track and is really catchy.
Another song on the album that really caught me was "Bailamos" because of it's great beat and rhythm. The lyrics are also pretty cool.
This song is great and sounds fairly similar to Rhythm Divine in the sense that it is so latin. This was one of the albums singles and Enrique's first major radio-hit in the U.S., and was included on the "Wild Wild West" soundtrack.
"I Have Always Loved You", "Could I Have This Kiss Forever - with Whitney Houston" and "You're My #1" are all beautiful songs and relax you as you are listening to them, though EVERY song on the album is extremely easy on the ears. Five of the albums songs are ballads and the other five are Latino or Dance pop. "I'm Your Man" and "Sad Eyes" are very beautiful and latin sounding.
"Alabao" and "Oyeme" are very catchy, and could have easily been singles. These songs sound a lot like Bailamos and Rhythm Divine and are in the category of dance-latin. There are three Spanish language tracks on the album "Ritmo Total (Rhythm Divine)" "Mas Es Amar (Sad Eyes)" and "No Puedo Mas Sin Ti (I'm Your Man)" and the last track is a brilliant remix of the song Rhythm Divine - "Fernando Garibay Remix". This album will bring so many emotions to you. It will make you want to get up and dance, and make your thoughts and feelings so deep, but at the same time make you so care free. It is simply a beautiful album and a masterpiece for music.
I found it very uplifting and enlightening to hear this music. This is a great album to chill out to, and it never leaves my C.D. player for long, so I reccommend to any music lover, buying it 100% Anyone who enjoys latin music will LOVE this album.
This album was an hour of pure bliss to listen to.
If you like this album I also reccommend "Escape" and "seven".
