Free Music Notes for Amarantine

Free Music Review: Love it!
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a fan of Enya's music since an Irish friend, who raved about her over and over, introduced me to her music back in 1989. I fell in love with her music immediately. I was living a very stressful life in Tokyo at the time and listened to her all... the... time to relax and be transported to a quieter place while traveling on the crowded subways and streets. Her crystal clear melodious voice takes me to some really nice spaces and I love the soft and atmospheric synthesizer created music accompanying her. I own all of her CD's and usually buy them as soon as they come out. This time I downloaded Amarantine straight from iTunes like the day it was available and I wasn't disappointed. It's right on par with all of her other CD's and doesn't really deviate from her usual fair. I've never been disappointed in any of her music.I even love the dance remixes with her music or the rap blends.

Some songs like "Amarantine," "Amid the Falling Snow," "A Moment Lost," and "Someone Said Goodbye" are kind of popish and not so much my favorites. But there are other songs like "Sumiragusa," "Drifting," "The River Sings," and "Less Than a Pearl," which are more reminiscent of her more darker and dreamier spatial songs, which I do like. I also prefer her non-English songs and there is at nice ratio in this CD.

Free Music Review: Better Than Her Last Two Albums
Hit: 5 Stars

Forty-five minutes of pure bliss that can be addictive like pain-killers!

Compared to her previous albums, Enya has managed to reach a new level of ethereal height and melodious delight. The sonic production is breathtakingly clear, and her celestially soft voice also feels more intimate and lilting than ever.

But, due to the more efficiently crafted, more restrained and subtler and thus less schematic and predictable (less pop-like than "A Day without Rains") nature of her new cycle of songs (which flow together so seamlessly well that "Amarantine" can be considered a seasonal suite), her previous darker and more ethnically forlorn musical elements are pretty much gone here, which on the plus side does make "Aramantine" her most beatific album to date.

Roma's English lyrics seem to be more bland and trited this time around, yet her invented Lexicon is amazingly well suited to Enya's free-flowing voice.

In all, I'd personally rate "Aramantine" above both "The Memories of Trees" and "A Day without Rains", but a notch below "Watermark" and "Shepherd Moons", which were the miraculous albums that made me fall in love with Enya in the first place, and she doesn't disappoint at all this time.

Free Music Review: It's been a long, long journey...
Hit: 5 Stars

Being my young, immature self, I never really asked to have Enya playing on the CD player, as at first, I thought it was boring. Over time, however, I grew to love the only cd we have of her, Watermark. As I matured bit by bit, I learned that Enya was a wonderful thing to listen to in the car or if you wanted to relax. So, due to my knew appreciation for Enya, I asked for her newest CD for Christmas, expecting a royally great album to learn to love as well. Imagine my surprise when I loved it the second I heard "Less Than A Pearl". Every time I listened to it since I first recieved it, I enjoy it more and more.

Enya has an enchanting voice that takes anyone to another world; for me, it was that fantasy land I imagined when I was three years old. One of faeries, dragons, princes and kings, deserts of millions of miles and lush, green forests. Her voice has that quality that few artists can achieve. Enya can also be chilling when singing- with such songs as "Drifting" come to mind. Favorite other songs on her album include "Amarantine", "It's In The Rain", and "Amid The Falling Snow".

Overall, I strongly reccomend this album for others to enjoy, and to enter a fantasy world of their own.

Free Music Review: Long Long Journey
Hit: 5 Stars

It has been a long long journey for Enya fans. (among whom I count myself). It was worth the wait. I've only been a real fan of Enya for a couple of years now. The first album I bought was A Day Without Rain, and soon bought all the others, including three singles with non album tracks. Her music is, in my opinion, wonderful stuff. Many people don't like her, and write her off as a hack, a grand hoax passed off as "good" music.
Well, each to his opinion, I say. But, even though a good many people don't like her, a good many more think she's wonderful.
This new album is a treat, and carries on in the tradition of Shepherds Moon, DWOR, etc. I must have played Long Long Journey half a dozen times after the initial hearing. Though I had my doubts about songs being sung in a fake language, I must admit the ones sung in that language were appealing, and suit Enya very well. Enya does good stuff, and if you don't like her, why bother listening to and then reviewing her albums? It makes no sense. Life is much too short. If you like Enya (and millions of us do) then you'll buy the new album despite what "critics" say.
Buy it, enjoy it, and tell the rest of the world where to put thier opinions.

Free Music Review: Her most innovative since WATERMARK
Hit: 5 Stars

Please ignore the other reviewers who call this "treacle." Obviously, people like Enya's sound or not. Stylistically the music of Enya will always sound....well, "Enya." I really believe, however, that this album is one of Enya's most original since Watermark. LESS THAN A PEARL is totally unique and captivating in the way it moves along at a rapid pace and is akin to celtic mouth-music. LONG LONG JOURNEY is totally anthemic and hymn-like. This song absolutely gave me the chills and is incredibly moving. WATER SHOWS THE HIDDEN HEART may be one of Enya's best of all time...her vocals are explosive and shimmering and the melody is gorgeous. I do not mind that Enya has used "loxian" on three of the tracks...Adiemus and Lisa Gerrard have used sounds instead of real language for some time, and to me, it is appropriate for the music. There is no "pretention" in inventing an imaginary language for one's art--look at Tolkien. I think it is refreshing.
The production is excellent, and Enya's voice sounds better than ever. I WOULD, however, agree that some of the instrumentation is a bit old school. Other than that, though, this album is phenomenal.
