Free Music Review: Not an Epica fan but...

I love symphonic metal but never was a big fan of Epica. I picked up this album because it was on sale and the physics lyric theme seemed interesting. I was surprised that it was actually pretty good. The album however has a strongly liberal message. I laughed out loud hearing the recording of Bush and Obama.
There are a few really awsome songs on here. The rest to me are filler. I thought the guitar work was much better than any earlier Epica album (I guess they got a new guitarist). I liked the death metal elements and the fast parts I thought they combined the heavy and soft really well despite that I normally don't like it and also I see a lot of reviewers here didn't like the grunting.
I don't really understand all the great 5 star reviews. I guess compared to Epica's earlier work this is an amazing album. Far better than anything they've done before. Objectively speaking though it has a few amazing tracks then the rest are typical lame cliche songs they always do.
They have one that is like 15 minutes long and the whole thing is pretty awsome. Semblance of liberty was awsome, then design your universe was awsome. That is basically the 3 hit songs they have on the album then a few were okay and then the rest were actually lame and I never listened to them again. Though the good songs on here I come back to time and time again they are very catchy.
