Design Your Universe is a a breakthrough release, continuing and expanding on the style and drive heard in their previous release, The Divine Conspiracy. Simmone has never sounded better, using a broader range of her vocal talents than in earlier albums. The band has also expanded the instrumentation, including full orchestra and gothic choir on nearly all the tracks, without losing focus or detracting from their metal sound. The songs are catchier on this release even than on Divine Conspiracy; Burn to a Cinder stands out in this regard. Jansen's growls also fit, where they've sometimes seemed over the top before. Here I am, doing that thing of breaking my vow to not review music on Amazon, so you know what it means! I'm crazy about this CD! Female fronted symphonic metal is my favorite and I have been a little disappointed with what has been released the last few years. This is the best to come out in awhile, maybe the best ever, but I'm not going quite that far yet. Beautiful music, excellent lyrics, Simone: it's five stars plus!

Okay, I can't actually tell you how brilliant this album is... The words to describe the beauty of Simone Simons's voice, the power of the symphonic elements, and the fluidity with which the male voices come into the mix, escape me, but that is most probably because said words are yet to be created in the English language. Suffice it to say that you MUST OWN this album! There is growling, there is opera, there are guitars and there are violins... But above all, there is passion and an unparalleled listening experience.Free Music Review: Masterpiece

I have all Epica's albums as well and this is a masterpiece. Divine conspiracy didn't hold my attention long, but this album is Epica at their best (in my opinion). It will be in my cd player for a long time. Thanks Epica for creating such great work. Also, Simmone is HOT!Free Music Review: Thanks
