Free Music Notes for Light at the End of the WorldFree Music Review: There is light at the end of the world Hit: 5 Stars
I don't know why I waited so long to get the latest Erasure album LIGHT AT THE END OF THE WORLD since I am such a huge fan of the synthpop group. I am glad I finally got it. LIGHT AT THE END OF THE WORLD is classic Erasure all the way with the group's infectious melodies and earnest lyrics. The album is just under 40 minutes long but it is 39 minutes of synthpop bliss. The lyrics on this album reflects the break up between Andy and his partner, a relationship that lasted for nearly twenty years. Despite the tone of the subject matter, the songs are surprisingly upbeat beat-wise as well as lyrically. There is no bitterness or rancor. One of my personal favorite songs on the album is "Sunday Girl". The addictively catchy melodies makes it hard for me to listen to the song just once. The rest of the album is a lot of fun to listen to. I have to admit I had to listen to the album a few times before the music really sunk into my head. Overall great album.
Free Music Review: Another Solid One For Erasure Hit: 5 Stars
Fully eight months after the release of LATEOTW, I have to conclude this is one of Erasure's best - right up there with the likes of "Cowboy", "The Innocents" and "Chorus". It is even better than 2005's well regarded "Nightbird". That I didn't recognize this earlier is no surprise. For a band as venerable and prolific as Erasure, each new release must compete for the affections of its fans with a dozen others that over the years, have reached legendary status.
Initially turned off by the first few tracks (the overly upbeat "Sucker For Love" and second single "Sunday Girl"), I found many of the remaining songs and competent remixes from the Storm Chaser EP to be a brilliant return to form after repeated listenings. Although no song here moves me quite like "Fingers and Thumbs" or "First Contact", I feel I have finally seen (as it were) the light.
Free Music Review: AMAZING GRACE! Hit: 5 Stars
I love Erasure and have for over 20 years. I listen to Erasure and Marc Almond exclusively, as I find them full of heart and soul that is profoudly moving. At first I was thrown off by this album since it is so different. It took me about 2 weeks to fall in love with it but now I am hooked! The songs have wonderful music and the words are so sexy! It's great to dance to! The songs are equally profound as in the past and do touch my soul like only Erasure can do. Very highly recommended. Golden Heart and How My Eyes Adore You are my favorites. I love this album and it is one of the best yet!
Free Music Review: LOVE LOVE LOVE this CD. Hit: 5 Stars
What can I say? I am a 35 year old woman who fell in love with Erasure's music in the 80's. Now my 15yo daughter enjoys it with me. Without fail, I always buy Erasure's CDs and the last couple they put out, were not up to their standards! But this one?? LOVE it. My favorite 2 tracks are Sunday Girl and Storm in a Teacup. I'll probably be buying their music 20 years from now. Just when you think you've outgrown their music they pull you back in with a CD like Light at the End of the World. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: More of the same from Erasure Hit: 5 Stars
And that is a good thing! Very similar sound to Nightbird, and, in fact, I think anyone that liked that popular release will like this also. Sunday Girl, Glass Angel, I Could Fall in Love With You, and When a Lover Leaves you are my favorite songs here. However, there are no weak tracks on this album, all ten songs are excellent.
