This is nothing short of astonishing.I didn't think he would be able to come with anything as good as this after years of banging around in the clubs and festivals replaying the hits over and over with a sucession of road bands.This is the first genuine studio recording since 1988! With the title,I don't mean to imply that he has ever left us, but we finally have the album most of us have been waiting for him to make. It's got a laid back kind of groove that packs a subtle punch. I want to compare it to a good Van Morrison or Dr. John album, because it's in that class. Its like a good vintage wine. Eric Burdon returns with a vengence, forget about whether this is a great Eric Burdon Album, this is a great album period. Combinination Jazz, Rock, Blues, there is not a bad song on the album, production is excellent & Eric sounds incredible. This is a great work. Every song grabs you with the hook and each cut is different. From the opening tributes to Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding through the jazzy blues of Jazzman and ending with the Leonard Cohen title track, this is Eric's crowning achievement. I saw Eric in Cleveland at a Rock Hall fund raiser the day before this CD was released and he did 2 songs from it - the crowd loved it! No Rick Nelson, Garden Party type reception to this material.
