Free Music Review: Best Played and Engineered Clapton CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been listening to this cd all week. It is so well engineered and recorded that it should be used as a test cd. I saw Mr. Clapton on CBS Sunday Morning Show and he and Mr. Cale looked like they really enjoyed themselves making it. Mr. Cale's songwriting is excellent, what a wonder he is. One very pleasant surprise was the late Billy Preston playing organ and piano, the recording and engineering brings out the punch in Mr. Preston's playing. Mr. Clapton has written a very touching song about his daughters that is a must and his guitar playing is lyrical as well. I don't think I have ever heard him play as well.

Free Music Review: a good lesson on how a rock star gracefully ages
Hit: 5 Stars

Eric Clapton has made it thru much in the past 40 years: drugs and alcohol, personal tragedy, and horrible 80's synthesizers. This CD is just plain good-it doesn't try to be something it's not, and Clapton doesn't have to prove he's a guitar god anymore. J.J. Cale writes some good bluesy rock songs and together they sound great. The addition of Dereck Trucks on slide guitar is terrific, as is Billy Preston on the organ. This recording is not "slick" or "overproduced" as some have said-it sounds smooth, clear and accurate. I have a feeling that this CD will receive regular playing time on my stereo for many, many years.

Free Music Review: Really Enjoyed this CD - catchy, compelling.
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a terrific CD! Ever since I heard the first single on radioplay, "Ride the River," I've been waiting to get my hands on the CD - and wasn't dissapointed.

A really great retro sound - somewhat laid back, stripped down.

The guitarwork is excellent - has that Marc Knoffler guitar picking sound throughout -

A few of my favorite cuts include "Danger," "Last Will and Testament," and "Ride the River." Its got bluesy cuts, rockers, ballads - a very welcome teaming from two guitar masters responsible for some of Clapton's best early solo work ('Cocaine,' 'After Midnight.')

Free Music Review: Wish I was driving down a country road that was endless while listening to this cd
Hit: 5 Stars

I could listen to this cd over and over. These two guys are two peas in a pod as they compile music together. As we know, JJ Cale and Eric Clapton have been making magical music for many years together. Every song on this cd is great and brings back memories for baby boomers, especially. A simple life, a country free from war and appreciating the good times in life is what it is all about. These two gentlemen have strings that not only make great music, but also, they have a strong string of songs that have made milestones in music history.
Thanks, guys, for a great cd!

Free Music Review: A DREAM TEAM
Hit: 5 Stars

Usually these type records don't live up to expectations, but this is an exception. Clapton and JJ Cale are terrific together. First rate songs, mostly written by Cale, and down and dirty guitar work from two masters. John Mayer and Derek Trucks add some nice licks, as well as the late Billy Preston on keyboards. To the critics here who harp about this being too laid back and the ages of the musicians, skip this and get the new Josh Grobin or Clay Aiken discs. This album is the real thing, done with skill and passion. I hope JJ and Eric do this again soon. Highly recommended.
