Free Music Notes for The Road to Escondido

Free Music Review: Incredible surprise
Hit: 5 Stars

I have seen Eric Clapton in concert several times: Money and Cigarettes tour, with Mark Knopfler, Forever Man tour. Over the years I have been quite the fan, but not so much in recent years. Then I hear the song Danger on a local radio station and figure it's a tune from the Clapton/Cale CD. A few days later I hear yet another song. Loved 'em both. So I bought the CD and absolutely love it. Billy Preston (RIP) is a big-time contributor on several of the songs. Honestly, I can see myself listening to this CD quite a bit over the coming months. It's a 5-star item in my book.

Free Music Review: Genius at Work
Hit: 5 Stars

J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton have produced a wonderful CD. More's the pity that that we have not heard more collaborative efforts from these two masters.

"The Road to Escondido" is a laid back master piece. Cale and Clapton work well together. They have produced a terrific compilation that deserves a wide audience. The genre is hard to classify as it is a mix of rock, Cajun, folk and blues. Regardless, it works! May we see this duo continue to work together in the future. Take my advice, get this CD. Your efforts will be rewarded.

Free Music Review: superb signature Cale
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a huge Cale fan and was worried that Clapton's presence might ruin this effort with an "overproduced" sound. To the contrary, the Cale influence dominates with Clapton fitting in extremely well. The vocals are pretty much shared which is fine. This is an extension of Cale's signature genre(a melding of blues, country, rock, jazz, whatever) that remains "laid back" yet still brings the beat and never degenerates into detestable soft rock. He's always had the touch. Clapton gets it as well as anyone. This is a buy.

Free Music Review: Great Combination!
Hit: 5 Stars

The mixing of J.J. Cale's (featured more than Clapton, and wrote most of the songs) laid back, folksy-bluesy style added to Clapton's tasty guitar work, along with his laid back, bluesy style (on this CD), makes for an incredible CD, an incredible mix, a beautiful blend. Even the two voices seem to fit beautifully. And it's about time the two got together, as J.J. Cale wrote the early Clapton hits "After Midnight" and "Cocaine." The best J.J. Cale (not to be confused with John Cale) CD I've heard. Highly recommended.

Free Music Review: It's Hard Not To Be Thrilled with the Work of these 2 Masters
Hit: 5 Stars

Alone they've been excellent and together they can only do better.
A slice of heaven... Nice smooth laid back classic Cale euphoria..
I really appreciate the sound Cale has always had and these recordings are in the same vein. Fans of either can be intrigued by its mastry.
After 5 Cale releases in 8 years, it's been a great decade!
Never would I have thought there would be so many JJ Cale albums in such a short span ever again... Keep rollin' on, brother!

Highly Recomended!
