Free Music Notes for The Road to EscondidoFree Music Review: More of an aquired taste Hit: 5 Stars
This cd is in the laid-back style of JJ Cale. At first, it seemed almost too uneventfull, but with repeated listenings, I've come to appreciate its subtlety more and more.
If you happen to be preparing for an MMA fight, this isn't likely to be your choice for training music. If, on the other hand, you want to get into a mellow mood and smell the flowers for a while, Road to Escondido will take you there in a flash.
I hope there will be a follow-up from these two terrific musicians.

Free Music Review: J.J. Cale is special Hit: 5 Stars
Having spent a great amount of time listening to Mr. Cale's work I believe there's a certain timeless quality to it - its never obstrusive yet always engaging and ultimately, great fun. I felt some of that on the material on this record. For that alone, I recommend giving this disc a chance even if Clapton's tightness sometimes gets in the way.
I strongly recommend Cale's solo work for its pureness and authenticity. The word "joy" only begins to describe the experience.
Free Music Review: An Instant Classic Hit: 5 Stars
Hard to put into words the infectious groove these two brilliant musicians capture, suffice to say: brilliant. As a fan of both, but particularly Clapton, I was expecting a very good album, but this exceeds all expectations. My favorites are the rollicking "Ride the River" and the slow, bluesy "Hard to Thrill", but the point is that there isn't a clunker on the album; you'll play it over and over again from track 1 to track 14 without skipping one!
Free Music Review: The Road to Escondido Hit: 5 Stars
This is the latest in the "Best-Of" For Clapton to unifiy with JJ Cale with Taj Mahal's harmonica, JJ Cale's band, this is sincerely one of the finest sounds I have heard from either of them. They have picked a few of John's best songs and melded their voices and their guitars. Clapton wanted to learn Cale's studio techniques and if he didn't he wasn't watching. This will be one of my favorites for a long time to come and one I will turn other's on to.
