Free Music Notes for Me & Mr JohnsonFree Music Review: Rompin' with Robert Hit: 5 Stars
Picasso was such a draftsman he could draw like a fresh child. Clapton knows Johnson so well from the inside out that he can reinterpret with a smile. He has sung a whole lot worse and a lot more agonized. Here he's a master having fun with another master's work -- maybe like Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli jamming, with the difference being they were both alive at the time. Anyone with the skill and courage to do 32-20 as a sprightly ditty has earned the right to do so. And a true fan might learn something by playing Rollin' and Tumblin' from Fresh Cream before and after If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day.
Free Music Review: What A Relief!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I dig the blues as I can often relate to the emotion expressed in this particular idiom. Womyn do me wrong all the time and I am never to blame. I also like the drinky and think it's pretty cool when a guitar talks (a lot better then some frippy witch yappy yappy yapping). Clapton can be downright terrific when in a blue mood and this ranks with "From the Cradle" as his best album outside of "Layla". The "Sessions for Robert J" disc is also very very nice and boy was I relieved when I realized this particular cd was a blues masterpiece and not some silly tribute to onanism.

Okay, I just had to do this to pull the album's ratings up from possibly the most unintelligent review I've ever seen on Amazon. That Mr. Cranky guy... you obviously never left the 80's along with Bon Jovi, who are and always have been a boy band with rock guitars. They are good for parties and that's about it. I'm not even a big Clapton fan to tell the truth, but you HAVE to respect the man for what he is: a LEGEND IN HIS OWN TIME. I hope you are not a guitarist yourself, because even making comparisons to a has-been group like Bon Jovi destoys all artistic credibility.
Free Music Review: Don't listen to these 5 Stars
Anyone who has given this Cd anything less than 5 stars is a complete idiot and knows nothing about great music. These are all songs that everyone should know and love. They come from a man who was way ahead of his time. And Clapton does a great job of putting a Now-A-Days spin to it. If you love the blues this is a must have for your collection. You might even want to pick up the complete recording of Robert Johnson too. Actually you should just to hear what the songs sounded like back then. Don't be fooled by Jackasses!!!! THIS IS A GREAT CD!!!
Free Music Review: A Great Album Hit: 5 Stars
Eric Clapton has always paid homage to Robert Johnson and this is a "Thank You" to the MAN. Eric takes the songs he's loved throughout the years and made them his own with a nod to Mr. Johnson. In response to some previous postings, many black blues men, BB King, Freddy King, Muddy Waters, have said that Eric was born to play the blues. I myself will always be grateful to him for turning me on to the genre and making me want to go back and explore the originals. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! PS. I LOVE Red Hot!!!
