Free Music Review: Eric Johnson Wakes Up
Hit: 5 Stars

Eric Johnson is an excellent guitarist. He crafts a soaring, "makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck" type of sound that makes you want more. His only weakness, it seems to me, is that he thinks he can sing. Furthermore, his lyrics are often sickly sweet and just plain nonsense. He's largely corrected that problem with this release, which is a return to more instrumental, more soaring melodies, fewer lyrics, and more of his unique Texas sound. The fact that I find his singing is often irritating and his lyrics silly, yet I'm still giving him 5 stars, should indicate just how good I think he is otherwise.

Free Music Review: As always tasty guitar magic
Hit: 5 Stars

Having been a fan since "Tones" and never being disappointed with Eric's work, "Bloom" is another stellar example of his amazing fretwork. I think he's as distinctive as Carlos Santana, as soon as you hear him....you know who it is...and he never fails to excite with his inventive guitar work.

He touches on so many styles on "Bloom", that there's something for everybody. If you haven't exposed yourself to Eric's work, please do so...any album is great...but this is as good as anyplace to start.

You'll become a fan, theres no doubt about it....and Eric thanks for the guitar pick!

Free Music Review: After 8 year studio release hiatus, Johnson releases a gem
Hit: 5 Stars

Guitar wizard Eric Johnson, known for his long, drawn out recording process, does not disappoint after the long wait with his newest studio release; "Bloom".
Believe it or not it's been eight years since his last studio disc; "Venus Isle".
Broken into three parts, Johnson shows off his very diverse guitar talent, from playing rock to jazz into a great Jerry Reed tribute.
I liked every track on the new disc and look forward to listening to it for weeks to come.
It's been a long wait, but EJ doesn't dissapoint.

Free Music Review: Eric Johnson...Bloom
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Eric Johnson since I first saw him play in concert back in 1989. "Bloom" is a collection of songs that show just how great a player Eric has become and how his technique and style have matured over time. The elements of all styles and genres are present, which help to keep the listener engaged. True to how Eric does things, this album is like none of his others...A must have for everyone's collection.
Enjoy.
My Top picks...Bloom, Columbia, 12 to 12 Vibe, Tribute To Jerry Reed, and Sunnaround You.

Free Music Review: Another GREAT album from Eric Johnson
Hit: 5 Stars

This one was really worth waiting for. Every song, and I mean EVERY song, is great. At first, I thought there was too much diversity in it but, the more I listened to it, the more I liked it! There is only one thing I do not like about listening to this CD. That is, when it ends! I wish there were another 16 songs on it! Guess I'll just have to wait for the next one. Good thing one can hear it again, and again, and again. Simply superb! Thanks, Eric, for this fantastic collection and its perfect presentation!
