While I am a huge fan of Eric Whitacre's work, this CD is almost the same as "The Complete Acapella Works" CD released in 2001. I love that CD, and this new one is great, but not amazing. The first time I heard Eric Whitacre, I was floored, and this CD doesn't necessarily do that. It's a very exposed type of music and I'm not sure that I agree with some of the choices that the choral director made (In terms of tempo and length of the songs). There isn't as much emotion and fluidity and expression with the material. The pizzaz of the CD isn't fully up to what people have come to expect from an Eric Whitacre project. The presentation is similar to the first CD, so I would get it for the three new songs on there if anything.
