This is my opinion. Wow "E"--you owe me (and some 'us') an apology and I want that verbally and I want to understand it when you say it.
I don't want to be left scratching my head, crying uncontrollably or cursing like I got "Tourettes" because I am pissed off I bought this thang you call musik.
Let me say this...it is one thang to support your artist but sometimes enough--is uh DAMN NUFF!
There is always two sides to a situation with artist--you write the music you love and you write music for the fans who love you. They evolve. It's a beautiful thang. You are suppose to love what you birth.
Unfortunately, evolution ain't (yep I sed ain't) alwayz a good thang. Maybe it's a touch of insanity I don't know but I should have learned my lesson from "World Wide Underground". I'm still blinking erratically off that mess and the doctors cain't (yep I sed cain't)--stop it.
I'm mentally scarred bcuz of it. I knew after that, what we would be in for when she's in one of her "SPACEBALL", incense, egg & candle cookin'---MOODS.
It is my belief that some (not all) of these 'high raters' are not being honest and are going strictly off the love for her only and not her work. I respect that love but....
There is something to be said about a good combination of lyrics, meanings (messages) and beats to create masterpiece.
Ummmm...Twisted messages with No beats (or abscure beats) = "WHAT THA' F%$K IS THAT!" musik. It doesn't equal good musik.
Just ask the lost fans of Prince, Purple Guy, Signature Man or whatever his name is ("The Forgotten One" is what I call him) and "NAS". Trust me when I say...I love me some "NAS"...but his last two drops....litterally dropped. Good messages, fresh lyrics but staaaannnnky beats.
This whole album is OFF BALANCE and selfish on her part and to think she has an "Amerykah PT 2"., "DownTown Lorreta Brown" and another (I can't think of the name)--coming back to back is really scary because I am betting those as well will be....
Garbage for the lost soul.
As for the so-called only song that was liked by those of us who hated/disliked this album..."Honey"...it should be called...
"Erykah...Honey...STOP IT"...FUH REAL. You got a beautiful voice but..STOP IT!!!!!
Free Music Review: Erykah's new psycho-funkadelic ride...

This new album from Erykah will take some getting use to as it is not like her previous work. Instead this album has a 70's psycho-funk appeal to it throughout with only a hint of her usual neo-soul which can be found on telephone... At first I didn't like this album but it grew on me as Erykah is only spreading her horizon and obviously doesn't want to limit herself to other peoples interpretation of what her sounds standard should be, as this time around I can hear some Minnie Riperton influence in some of her sound arrangements... So listen with a open mind and this album may grow on you... Stand out songs are "me, cell, honey, telephone, and twinkle... Free Music Review: I expected better

I love Erykah Badu but I have to say i was a little disappointed. Now don't get me wrong there are few bangers on here like: "Honey(which is a hidden track)", "My People", "Soldier" but I tend to get lost in the flow. It takes so many directions. This album seems like it isn't complete, like something is missing but it's still worth purchasing.
