At Last! The digitally remastered release with bonus tracks is this one, so you don't need the Essential Etta James, this is it, and it is truly essential. I personally can't live without this album in regular rotation; it's a superb pick-me-up that just grabs your heart from the get-go and keeps you smiling and grooving all the way through. At last! showcases Etta's power as the hottest blues diva on the 60's circuit, and along with Etta James Rocks the House you've got two of the best CDs ever put out in blues and R&B . She'll rock your house till it rolls right over; these tunes have stood the test of time and should be on everyone's most played lists.Free Music Review: At Last

I haven't bought this CD yet, but I plan to. Just wanted to say to all you "At Last" fans that the Temptations do a rendition of it that's a real knock-out, too, on their "For Lovers Only" CD. Heard it over the holidays on a nightclub jukebox and had to do some real exploring to find out what it was. No one around me had ever heard the song nor knew anything about it. I'd remember hearing it in the unknown distant past, and it had obviously left a *wonderful* impression. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Temptations doing it.Just tonight I heard of Etta's rendition. I wonder who else does it! This is fun.

It's amazing to think Etta James was just in her teens when these tracks were cut. The vocals on this collection of songs range from sassy to tender to broken-hearted to playful. Truly an incredibly gifted vocalist, and a great selection of tunes. The title track, often used in commercials and movies (perhaps a little too often), is one of the greatest love songs of all time and only hints at the variety herein. Get "At Last." Play it at your cocktial parties, during romantic dinners or on a rainy, lazy Sunday morning at home. When I heard At Last on a T.V commercial for Jaguar for the first time,I was just speeechless.It blew me away. Most of my friends and I were into those hard core alternative music,so nobody could not tell me who the singer was. Luckily, I had a chance to hear the song once again in the movie "Rain Man".I bought the sound track right away and found out who the singer was. I immediately fell love with her magnificent voice and her singing ability, and blues has become my favorite music listening. You know as I listen to this cd, one thing becomes clear. Etta James is raw, real, powerful, strong and to the point. None of today's singers can hold a finger to her. She is of the last great jazz/blues singers. Bessie, Billie, Ella, Sarah, Dinah, and Nina are gone. Only Etta is left....people need to show her more respect. Claps for Xtina for trying to keep Etta's legacy alive by talking about her on interviews and at her concerts. One listen to this gem and you will know why SOME call her "Queen of the Blues".
