Free Music Notes for Eva by HeartFree Music Review: When you get the blues in the night Hit: 4 StarsThis is the album that many of the songs from "SONGBIRD" compilation were plucked from. Eva Cassidy possessed one of the greatest voices in my opinion. I am proud to own all her albums including this one which features a standout track called "Blues in the Night". It is an awesome song to listen to in the car. I turn it up so loud at the traffic lights! As many have stated, her version of Christie McVie's "songbird" is stunning - in fact, she makes it her own. The album also boasts "Wade in the Water" and "wayfaring stranger". This album comes a close second to "Eva - Live at Blues Alley". For all those people yet to discover Eva, you do not know what you have been missing ...
Free Music Review: Can't LIVE without it Hit: 5 StarsI per chance caught a song on my local radio station that seriously got my attention, when I finally figured out who the artist was I went on a manhunt to locate her. Fortunately for me I picked the cd that EVERY SINGLE song on it is FAB-U-LOUS! Eva Cassidy is an angel her "Songbird" album is my number one choice of a cd in this lifetime so far. I have found that her music is in fact very healing and I can listen to it over and over and not get tired of it. I didn't buy just one cd for myself I bought one for my Mom and my best friend. I am SO greatful that I found Eva Cassidy because my world would NOT be the same without her.
Free Music Review: Musical Equivalent of Scraping Your Teeth on a Blackboard !! Hit: 1 StarsOuch! This CD seems to get very high ratings from most reviewers and I will defend their right to claim it is a "must have" recording but personally I must differ. Often times Miss Cassidy is over emotive and attempting to sing beyond her range. At times it is physically painful to listen to her! This CD gets plenty of air play at my place of employment and repeatedly causes me to wince during those times she screams rather than sings. Numerous customers and co-workers have inquired, with pained facial expressions, "What IS this we are listening to?" Volume is not indicative of vocal prowess and overwrought emotion does not equal soul! Many reviewers who love this CD say these songs bring them to tears - I will state that I too am teary-eyed right along side them - but for a different reason. Excuse me, I'll now be retiring to repair my aching eardrums to the soothing vocal excellence of Sarah Vaughan.
Free Music Review: Every track is a winner! Hit: 5 StarsI never tire of this voice! Buy the best of her essence. Get "Eva By Heart"; "Time after Time"; "Songbird" and Imagine" and you'll have the purest performances she had a chance to record. She's a course in "Singing 101"
Free Music Review: A treasure lost, and found again Hit: 5 StarsEva Cassidy's voice has an effect on me that I hadn't experienced in years. I'll never forget the first time I heard her... my dad played me her version of "Autumn Leaves" and I started to cry. Then he told me that she'd passed away, and I cried even harder. Her voice is a little raw, a little edgy, but the notes are so pure that you can feel them vibrating in your heart, and the pain is exquisite. My favorite song on this CD is "I know you by heart," she almost gets a little overwhelmed herself as she pours out her heart. If you haven't heard Eva yet, then you're missing out on a rare jewel.
