Free Music Notes for EVANESCENCE "Origin" CD by BIGWIG, 11 tracksFree Music Review: Great! Different.... Hit: 4 StarsThis is a pretty good CD. If you're not a die-hard Evanescence fan then this may not be worth it, as the production values are definitely lower than on their major label debut, Fallen. Not bad production, just not as polished. The first four songs on this album (track one is just an intro, so tracks 2-5) are all songs that can be found on Fallen as well, although three of those tracks are different versions and personally I like most of these versions better (production value aside). The other songs are all pretty good, and it's nice to hear some more Evanescence songs written or co-written by Ben Moody...I'm not a big fan of The Open Door, and you can really feel Moody's absence in the writing.
Free Music Review: Evanescence's Origin Hit: 5 StarsIn my opinion, Origin is the best CD that Evanescence has made, but I would say that it is definitely a slightly different taste than their later works. Detailed review:
1. In comparison to other Evanescence CDs, "Origin" has a bit of a darker but softer musical compilation. So if you're looking for louder, faster songs with heavier guitar playing, choose one of the later CDs.
2. For people who are not familiar with Evanescence, the "darkness" that describes this music refers to the artist's taste in minor key tonality and music that is "sad sounding" in general. Also, the tempos of the songs are slow to moderate. Nothing too intense or energetic.
3. The lyrics are insightful--even amusing--often sad, and poetically written. If you're into the "darker side" of life, then you will certainly understand and enjoy the lyrical aspect of the songs, but if darkness is not your taste, the lyrics may be interpreted as depressing and/or strange.
4. As a slight forewarning to those who are familiar with Evanescence, the nascent talent is slightly evident in this first work. Do not expect over perfection, but the music is still amazing.
Free Music Review: Darker but better Hit: 5 StarsBefore I start this review I'd like to say that the very fact that this CD is barely known and kind of went 'Under the radar" whereas Fallen became quite famous is a true shame. I guess people heard how dark the CD is and got scared that Evanescence was a bunch of super depressed kids when that is simply not the case. If you get their DVD you will see that they are actually quite goofy at times, but that's besides the point. This CD is much darker than Fallen, but a lot better in my opinion. Whisper, My Immortal and Lies are 3 of my favorite tracks and the opening is truly artistic and it grabs you and pulls you in.
Free Music Review: Awsome Hit: 5 StarsI have enjoyed this band since I was 12 (I am 22 now), and this CD has not changed that opinion. I enjoy hearing the "beta" versions of the cuple of songs played on newer CDs, and comparing the two. Personally I think the older versions are better, but others may disagree. If you like this band or any similar bands, you should get this CD if you have the chance.
Free Music Review: Prepare to be scammed Hit: 1 StarsI was very excited I was going to be getting this CD for my birthday, and I was expecting the REAL 11-track Origin yet when it came I was very disappointed. It was OF COURSE the 19 track bootleg and I was able to tell just by looking at the front cover, because it was an ugly skull design instead of the original one. I even tried listening to it, but nearly all of the tracks were either burned or out of order. I should've known better than to take such a risk so I'll end this by saying BUY THE MP3s, you can't get ripped off then!
