Free Music Notes for Christmas With the Fab Four: Ultimate TributeFree Music Review: The Fab 5 StarsOK So I'm writing a kid's review but I'm over 13. Buuuut I'm also under 18 so I can't have an account ot write a normal review. **rolls eyes** I love The Beatles, even if they are a little bit before my time. They are, definitively, the greatest band that has ever lived. EVER. And, like most diehard Beatles fans, there isn't a day that gos by that I don't wish they could somehow miraculously get back together. This is where The Fab Four come in. Now, there are lots of Beatles cover/tribute/impersonation bands out there and most of them are.......well, terrible, to put it mildly. (or to use a Beatleism, "dead grotty") And I, like most fans, hate them. After quite a bit of research into the topic (for the purpose of wanting to see some sort of show by my favorite band) I have concluded that in order for a cover band to be anywhere near good they must fulfill these four requirements:1.) They must be able to play The Beatles's songs. And I don't just mean being able to pick up a guitar and strum the chords to "A Hard Day's Night". I mean playing it on key, on tempo, and with the right arrangement so that I can believe it's real. You might think this would be pretty easy to get right. But you're wrong. You wouldn't believe how many cover bands take even the simpilest melody and mangle it into an unrecognizable mess. 2.) They must look like The Beatles. I'm not saying they have to be their clones but, honestly, do we really want to see an blonde Macca or a short and fat Lennon?? I think not. If no one has ever told you you look like a Beatle you probably shouldn't be impersonating them; sadly, loving them is not enough. This goes for costumes too. If the Sgt. Pepper suits look like you pulled them out of the toybox...leave them at home and for the record, Paul's suit was powder pink...not magenta. Aaand if you're going to chande hair, do it right for God's sake! John never had stick straight blonde hair down to his arms. 3.) They must sound like The Beatles. This is probably the biggest obstacle. You might have musical talent and uncannily Beatlesque looks....but can you talk like a Liverpudlian? "There is a fine line between recklessness and courage..." and also between sounding like a Beatle and sounding like a cheap british comedy. You don't have to inflect every word or raise the end of every sentence or speak in constant slang to pull a believeable Scouser. Not only that but they were understandable when they sang. "Yeh thank yoo loust yaer louve..." is a little over the top for "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Here especially, moderation is key. 3.) They must act like The Beatles. One of the things that made them so unique was they were more than four guys smiling and singing pop songs. They had individual, complex personalities and an extremly distinctive sense of humor. (or humour) They were unpredictable in public and quick to come up with witty and often sarcastic remarks for every situation, each in his own way, with John being the cheekiest by far. And then of course there's the on stage mannerisms that have become famous. The perfectly in sync Beatle Bow, Paul's Bobb, the way Ringo moved his head as he drummed, the way George and John tapped their feet, and the way they shook their mop tops to make girls swoon. It's an aweful lot to remember and very few bands bother to put that small aspect of acting into their show. I honestly thought I would never find a band that could do all these things at once. In fact I never thougt anyone could convincingly impersonate a Beatle! (unless of course you believe that Paul is dead thing) Buuut of course I was proved wrong. The Fab Four are amazing! They fulfill all of the requirements and more! They're beyond a tribute or cover band, they are a Beatles experience for those of us who were unfortunatly born a few decades too late.
