Free Music Review: From nothin to somethin...Fab
Hit: 3 Stars

I think the album was decent, I have listened to it alot and peeps I work with and friends all agree..its get 3 - 3.5 stars. Some of these reviews make me laugh, it makes me question who knows about what true lyrical skills are. I know alot of you clowns on here would give Lil Wayne's or T.I.'s album 5 stars...even though neither one has the sick word play like Fab or the sick punch lines. Yeah some of the chorus and hooks was a little suspect but the album is not awful like some of you say. I know the South is running Hip Hop now and people only give good reviews to Southern rappers who have questionable lyrical skills but because they make you dance and snap your fingers their albums get 5 stars..LOL! you people are so funny......Reviews like the ones I have read on here make me remember why Nas named his ablum "Hip Hop is Dead"

Free Music Review: Eh
Hit: 3 Stars

Nothin too impressive here. Fab is a pretty good lyricist, but to me this album falls flat. You would think that this album would be his defining album like he said it would be but sittin through all the fillers is painful. Now the album has some gems and high moments, like the Bonus track this is family, a huge posse cut with rappers such as Joe Budden, Ransom, and Paul Cain, Brooklyn(feat. Jay-Z, and Uncle Murda), and what can I do feat. Lil Mo. But most of the rest of the albums are like the standard songs too any album. You have the filler "Baby Don't Go" feat. T-Pain, the average Gangsta's don't play with Junior Reid, and the dissapointing Jokes on You feat. Pusha T (who I expected to deliver but didn't). I say, save your money, borrow this album or bootleg it

Free Music Review: Did Fab Fall Off, Or Did I Grow Up?
Hit: 2 Stars

Fabolous, a rapper who reps Brooklyn, emerged in the early 2000's. His first three albums, "Ghetto Fabolous", "Street Dreams", and "Real Talk", spawned radio hits such as "Can't Let You Go", "Damn", "Young'n", and "Breathe". Hearing "Can't Let You Go" made me pay attention to Fab, and I decided to pick up "Street Dreams". I really liked the album, but I never checked out his first or third offerings. Now he's back with his fourth record, "From Nothin' to Somethin'". After a couple of listens, two things are obvious: His monotonous flow never changes, and he's still rapping about the same things.

There is everything you'd expect from a Fab album on here. The obligatory love songs like "Make Me Better" ft. Ne-Yo, and "Baby Don't Go" ft. T-Pain. These two aren't necessarily bad; Ne-Yo provides a nice hook on what would be a good cut if Fab actually put some life into his performance. The chorus on "Baby Don't Go" is catchy as well, but the song suffers from the same setback as the former. "Real Playa Like" is the standout love song, where Lloyd provides very solid vocals and Fab actually rhymes with a little passion. "First Time" with Rihanna is also an above average track but does suffer from weak lyrics.

"Return of the Hustle" with Swizz Beats is lackluster. The money-inspired lyrics aren't very inspired and this falls under skip material. "Yep, I'm Back" is one of two songs without a guest appearance. It has an excellent beat but still, it suffers from boredom. The braggadaccio is getting old. "I'm the Man" is corny with bad lyrics. "Diamonds in My Damn Chain" is yet another song about bling, and you can already count it as skip material. (The tracklisting says Young Jeezy, but I have Lil Wayne guest appearing on my version). It would probably work on the radio though.

There is yet a few more good songs offered here though. "Gangsta Don't Play" is a standout cut thanks to Junior Reid providing almost perfect vocals (you might know him from "One Blood" by Game). "Brooklyn" features Jay-Z and Uncle Murda, and the guest appearances save Fab from yet another boring track. "Jokes On You" is a bit better than most on here. The chorus is rather lame but the rest of the track is rather catchy. The best track on here, hands down, is "What Should I Do" featuring Lil Mo. Fab reads off letters from people going through hardships and adversity. Different issues are brought up and it's a very nice monotony breaker from all the boredom and dull braggadacio. "Change Up" features Akon and has his signature sound which never misses. The bonus track "This is Family" is sorta like a posse cut with my boy Joe Budden, Ransom, Freck Billionaire, Red Cafe, and Paul Cain. It's a gangster track with all dropping exceptional verses. In my opinion, Joey's was the best. Nice way to finish a lackluster album.

Overall, Fab decided to play it safe by not expanding his boundaries any at all, minus 1 song (What Should I Do). His flow is boring and monotonous, his subject matter rehashed and tired. I don't think the album would be so bad if he actual put some fire in his voice, instead of droning through the whole album. The beats are stellar though, with production from Swizz Beats, Akon, Polow the Don, Freebass, and Timbaland, among others. If excellent production is your thing, then you might wanna download the album. I would recommend a purchase only to the die-hard Fabolous fans.

Free Music Review: From Nothin' To Mediocre (2.5 Stars)
Hit: 2 Stars

It's hard to define Fabolous. He hasn't quite had an outstanding career so far, but he's still not a terrible rapper, but rather a mediocre one. He's got a good, genuine flow to his raps, but doesn't quit stand-out even half as much as he should, regardless that he hit home run with the party jammer "Young'n" and the soulful "Into You" with Tamia. And that gets even worsened on From Somethin' to Nothin', since every song except "Yep, I'm Back" has a guest star or two, but that doesn't mean Fabolous has a terrible album going, it's just cookie-cutter and littered with guest spots that take away most, if not all of Fabolous's spotlight. And with that, Fabolous hides his identity through most of the songs and the guest stars and beats are what make them truly valuable. There are some party songs that will keep the summer cooking: "Baby Don't Go" featuring T-Pain, "Brooklyn" featuring Jay-Z & Uncle Murda, and "Diamonds" with Young Jeezy are valuable party songs. And "Gangsta Don't Play" with Junior Reid is an appreciable reggae tune. But aside from that, Fabolous doesn't show any major talent outside of the club songs, especially the ladies tunes would be a weak spots for Fabolous. "Real Playa Like" with Lloyd and "First Time" with Rihanna fail from fatal similes and the latter disgusting lyrics, but he saves it with the inspirational "What Should I Do". The rest of the songs, whether party or otherwise, fail from different aspects: "I'm the Man" has a problem in that it has a chorus that comes off rather very weak ("I'm the man/Shorty yes I'm the man"), and Red Café sounds just like Bow Wow. And "Jokes on You" suffers heavily from having a very irritating beat and sounds like a throwaway Cam'Ron song, which is in itself a bad note. Fabolous does show he can make a few good party jams, and a bit of genre flipping makes him versatile, but nothing quite leaves him a huge mark on the wall of rappers, and with that said, being a memorable one. 2.5 stars.

Free Music Review: From nothin' to nothin'
Hit: 2 Stars

Well just got done listening to fab's album and after a blood vessel popped in my eye I decided to write a review. The two stars I gave for the album are for the beats only. The lyrics on this album are weak and infantile. On return of the hustle fab uses Beyonce's lyrics (to the left, to the left) to describe what he does with his money. Diamonds---" they ain't got one problem with this, square face watch look like spongebob on the wrist"?!?!?!??! Also in diamonds he dropped a K-FED line "lotta karats but not the one's bugs bunny's snacking on" LMAO!!!!!! This kat is weak as hell. Change up featuring akon made me feel like a rash was growing all over my body and on real playa like me he is bragging about being a metrosexual (LOL). The hook done by Ne Yo was kool but the hook with the song with Jay z on it was wack. Overall verdict, don't buy this album with your own money. Trick some one into buying it for you so it won't be a lost on your behalf.
