Free Music Notes for Facing FutureFree Music Review: A pure taste of Hawaiian culture~*Get a Copy* Hit: 5 Stars
I am a native New Yorker who has had the Pleasure of being an Islander for 12 years from '86-'98 minus a year for NY in there. While the typical tourists listened to something else I got the insider view of Hawaiian culture through the infamous Israel as well as Cazimero Bros., C & K, Keali'i Reichel, and a couple other groups also.
I had the fortune of seeing this man play live in Waikiki during a block party and the Honor of viewing his departure from dis Life at the capitol. His music is beautiful, soothing with some reminiscence of the past and just so mellow. What a blessing it was to have shared in his life and music.
I have enjoyed several other of his cd's such as E'ala'E, IZ-the Man and his Music, and In Dis Life. I purchased this one on cassette {Facing Future}, but want to preserve it for the future in a CD. I highly recommend this selection and I am sure his voice will transport you to a heavenly paradise.

Free Music Review: Remarkable Voice Hit: 5 Stars
After finally figuring out who recorded my favorite version of "Over the Rainbow," I ordered Israel's CD - and learned how to pronounce his last name. I first heard about him on National Public Radio's series that showcased 100 of the greatest voices and his was among them.
Because I find his voice so soothing and personable, I downloaded the CD to my iPod. I've come to love so many of his songs - his inflection - his love of Hawaii - his sense of humor - and his love for his father. He was truly a remarkable person and he comes across as very insightful.
His voice is pure - and I'm not sure what else I can say about it. His personality certainly comes through his singing. I wish I could have known him, and it's tragic that he died at such a young age. Now I plan to buy some of his other recordings. It's always fascinating to me that so many of us are born with incredible natural talent; Israel seemed to fulfill his destiny to make the world a better place through his music.
Free Music Review: Big man - bigger heart Hit: 5 Stars
I knew nothing of Iz until a friend recommended his CD "Facing Future" being sold in Lahaina. We popped the cd into the player and the car filled with the panoramic sound of "Hawaii 78". By the third line I had goosebumps, and tears in my eyes by the end of the song. It seemed like the music just rose right out of the ground and filled the air from the sea to the top of Haleakala. When "Take Me Home Country Road" played I lost all control cried like a child. I became obsessed with finding everything in print by Iz and have given many copies away as gifts. Interestingly, several people had similar reactions to mine. Something about Iz's music and voice just opens your heart right up and fills it with memories of beautiful Hawai'i and a profound love that is scarce in today's singers. Yes, this cd has many beautiful renditions lovingly given to whomever is lucky enough to hear them. Iz, wherever you are, we who haven't yet made it "Over the Rainbow" thank you for your beautiful gift.
Free Music Review: Somewhere Over the Rainbow brings hope Hit: 5 Stars
I have to admit I don't have the CD, but the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" brought tears to my eyes at Relay for Life, which raises money for the American Cancer Foundation. From 6pm to 6am people walk a track to raise this money. Someone from each team must be on the track at all times, and the first lap is done by cancer survivers with balloons, which are released at the end of the lap. Luminaries with the names of those lost to cancer, but lovingly remembered, and those who have overcome or are overcoming cancer surround the track and also spell out HOPE. This already incredible and moving expierence brought tears to my eyes when at 6am the next morning this song was played as the last lap was made. This song brings a definite sense of hope to all those who have been impacted by cancer, and eases the pain for those who have lost a loved one to cancer. Im proud to say we made over $20,000 for cancer research this weekend. This is a gorgeous song.*for ...
Free Music Review: How does one describe music as magical as this? Hit: 5 Stars
I remember the first time I saw the movie "Finding Forrester." During the closing credits I heard this wonderful voice singing a medley of "What A Wonderful World" and "Over The Rainbow." It was a magical combination that sent me right to the nearest record store to find out who that voice belonged to and, if possible, to obtain a copy of that song. The clerk at the record store knew just who I was talking about and produced of a copy of "Facing Future" for me. Upon first listen I felt like my soul had become light as a feather and was riding the breezes over some tropical paradice. Sadly I soon discovered that "IZ" had passed away prior to my discovering him. I can only imagine that his soul is now light as a feather rides the cool breezes over his natice Hawaii. This album is for that moments when you want something different to take you away from the cares of the day, if only for a while. Check it out!
