Free Music Notes for **** Live In PhoenixFree Music Review: Good but not great. Hit: 3 Stars
I couldn't wait for this CD/DVD to come out! I haven't seen FOB live and was interested in what the concert experience would be like. I thought the concert looked and sounded great. The only thing I didn't like was the DVD portion. There was a ton of footage with a guy named Dirty doing dumb things. I thought they would have shown more with the band warming up for shows, concert set up, and band interaction. Overall it didn't seem like a finished product with the exception of the live CD. It's something to tide you over until the next record release.
Free Music Review: This is why I didn't worry when I missed FOB in Tampa. Hit: 3 Stars
i love fall out boy, i have all their CDs and I like them all, a lot. i've just got to say they are one of the worst LIVE bands to ever perform. This CD was not their best effort and should NOT have been released. it's got it's moments but all in all it's a huge let down.
Free Music Review: Not good, but it's not FOB's fault Hit: 2 Stars
It sounds like FOB put on a good show, but the sound quality of this disc is pretty awful. I don't know if it's a matter of mixing, recording, or a production issue. Id consider describing it as if someone were sitting in the crowd with a tape recorder. It has a heavy midrange sound, and little treble or bass. They didnt pick up highs or lows well, and lead vocals occasionally drown out the guitars. Again, not the band's issue...obvioulsly, as they sound great on albums.
Another review here mentioned they didnt even include the entire set. The included songs are some of their best, so there's no complaints here. The other thing I have to laugh about, is when Patrick lets the crowd sing, it sounds like the entire crowd consists of teenagers...not that I should be shocked about this.
I typically don't enjoy live albums, they tend stray too far from the way the original songs sounded in the studio. However, you can't help but get into the energy the band portrays here. I guess I'll just have to wait for a better quality release of a live set.
Free Music Review: I'd rather listen to the studio tracks.... Hit: 2 Stars
I just purchased FOB's new live album today, and after the first listen and watching the DVD, I have to say that they cannot pull off their material live. Vocals were consistently out of tune, and as the show was energetic, it lacked musically. As a concertgoer I want to hear how the songs sound on the records, and well, Fall Out Boy cannot quite grasp the musical level in live performance. Are they just a studio band?
Also the crowd on the DVD was lackluster. I've seen more lively reactions at a Celine Dion concert (sarcasam mode turned off).
Poor production, and a sloppy live performance give this album 2 stars from me.
I think I'll just stick to listening to the studio records.
Free Music Review: The band dropped the ball on this Hit: 1 Stars
The band dropped the ball on this. I like this band, but this is the worst and most poorly put together live album I have ever heard. First off, the cd doesn't inlcude the entire concert and it's not because of time constraints on the cd. The cd is only 50 something minutes. Second, track 9 is a studio version of a song in the middle of a live concert. WTF? I have never seen that in my entire life. A recorded studio track in the middle of a concert. Why not put it after the concert is finished and include the entire concert? This is weak and lazy of the band. At least the dvd is the entire show. I mean who puts a studio version of a song in the middle of a concert cd, it made me laugh. They could have easily put it at the end and put the entire concert on the cd.
