Free Music Review: Surprisingly addicting
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard a few of these songs online somewhere (SoundClick, Pure Volume, one of those) and I was impressed to say the least. I got the CD and sent it through my normal CD rotation, but it didn't get played nearly as much as other CDs in my collection. On day I went on a long drive and listened to this CD all the way to where I was going and all the way back and realized that this CD was unbelievably good. It really grew on me, to the point where they are one of my favorite bands.

First off, yes this band is poppy and "not all hardcore!" so if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere. The lyrics that this band has are creative and sometimes qutie humorous. I especially love the way that they sing the lyrics though. Hardly any of them rhyme, but they're put together in a great way. The music behind the lyrics is as well very sound. More creative than a lot of songs that I've heard recently. They throw in guitar riffs, bass riffs, and drum riffs more often than normal, but keep it from sounding busy, overall contributing to a sound that it pleasing.

Song breakdown is as follows...
"Tell Mick That He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today" - 9/10 - Great way to start off the CD. A lot of energy and passion here
"Dead on Arrival" - 8/10 - Kind of repetitive, and gets old after a bit, but still pretty good
"Grand Theft Autumn (Where is Your Boy)" - 10/10 - Great song with new ideas. Moves along well
"Saturday" - 7/10 - My least favorite song on the album. It starts out good, but loses it by the end
"Homesick at Space Camp" - 9/10 - Good not great. But a very catchy chorus
"Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here" - 9/10 - Once again, good not great. Moves along good, but is a big repetitive
"Chicago is so Two Years Ago" - 10/10 - BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM. I just love this song for some reason...great energy, great chorus...great everything
"The Pros and Cons of Breathing" - 8/10 - Ish...I can't really explain why. The song slightly irks me
"Grenade Jumper" - 9/10 - Fast and fun
"Calm Before The Storm" - 10/10 - Slower, but moves along well, with a good sound
"Reinventing the Wheel to run Myself Over" - 8/10 - Supposed to be very fast, with a lot of energy. Love the chorus, but the rest of the song is just alright
"The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes" - 9/10 - A darker and harder song, but the chorus modulation is jacked from TBS! In any case, still a good song.

Free Music Review: fall out boy rocks...
Hit: 5 Stars

wow ok, where do i start? well, in the beginning of june i was flipping through the TV stations and paused on MTV for a second to hear that the band fall out boy was going to be doing a live performance on TRL. i stopped because earlier on this year i had heard of fall out boy, and i was curious to hear their sound. when the performance came on i liked the song and i thought they were good. later on i told my friend and she clarified that the song was called 'sugar we're going down', and that she had heard the CD while at a friend's house. after listening to the song a few more times i became really into it. so did my friend. so i bought her they're newest album 'from under the cork tree' for her for her birthday-- the day i gave it to her we went over to her house and popped it into her stereo. i thought the songs were catchy but at the same time unique... and different from the albums that i had in my collection. the next day i went out and bought it and from then on i was hooked. i couldn't stop listening to it and i soon became an avid fan.
then a few weeks later i decided to buy this CD, take this to your grave. on the first few listens i didn't nescarily catch on... but after awhile this CD held the same place in my heart as 'from under the cork tree'. i really do find it a great album... their sound isn't exactly as, well, "different" as on their most recent release but i still love it anyways. i can't help but love every song on the album, and it's extremely hard to choose favorites but i guess i would have to say: tell mick he made my list of things to do today (sry if i got that title wrong i'm still bad with them), grand theft autumn, chicago is so 2 years ago and the patron saint of liars and fakes. i don't think this is a waste of money... and i just wish that i had discovered this band earlier. but as another reviewer said, i just hope MTV doesn't chew them up and spit them out. that would suck. and although it seems like going 'mainstream' has lost them alot of fans, at least they aren't exactly 'the new big thing'. i mean the only time they are on MTV is the 30 second clip of 'sugar we're going down' thats on TRL... (which i heard is falling down the charts by the way)...yet at the same time shouldn't people be happy that actual good music is being restored to television? idk... i guess i'll wrap this up.
take this to your grave is awesome... and i'd say to definately give it and fall out boy a try... look at me... i'm addicted!

Free Music Review: Wow!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first got this band name from some random person off the internet. I was asking around about good punk pop bands similar to sounds New Found Glory and Blink 182 to download and asked if anyone knew any bands. Someone threw out the name Fall Out Boy and so I decided I would check them out. I downloaded their first song on their CD, Take This to Your Grave, "Tell Mick That He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today", and instantly fell in love with it. The guitar part was the first thing that caught my attention. After hearing this I knew I had to hear the rest of the CD. I went to the nearest music store and bought the CD for 10 bucks! Not bad! When I got home I put the CD in my player and listened to the CD all the way though. This was the best CD that I had heard in the longest time. The lyrics and the music were so awesome from anything I had heard before! I loved every song I heard and there wasn't one on the CD that I didn't want to listen too. The CD hasn't left my CD player since the day I got it and since then I've ended up making copies for myself so I've been able the have a copy where ever I go. I love this CD and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted some really good music to listen to.
The band consists of four members: vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stumph, bassist Peter Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley, and guitarist Joseph Trohman. All of them at some point in their music careers had been in and out of various units connected to Chicago's underground hardcore scene. The drummer of their band, Andrew Hurley, was a part of the band named Racetraitor which was a political hard-core band that's main point was to rally. Ever since their self released demo in 2001, Fall Out Boy has been rocking the emo punk world ever since. Fall Out Boy singed with the label company Gainesville which is also co-owned by Less Than Jake. With the release of Take This to Your Grave in May of 2003, Fall Out Boy stands right where they are now, booked up with tour dates, raving fans, and enjoying every minute of it!

Free Music Review: WOW - This CD Will Never Leave My Player
Hit: 5 Stars

When I saw this CD in Target, I wasn't sure whether I wanted it or not. I had already heard "Grand Theft Autumn / Where Is Your Boy?" but one song isn't enough to decide on the whole album. I picked it up anyway because it was cheap, only 9 bucks. WOW. This CD was so much more than I expected. When the first song burst out of the speakers, I was immediately drawn in. The main singer's voice is great, and he has a huge range. I love every song on the CD, because it's never repetetive. All songs have a unique melody and the you can't go wrong with the clever lyrics, like in "Calm Before The Storm" - This is me standing in the arch of the door / Hating that look that's on your face that says there's another fool like me / There's one born every minute - I hope they can meet the standards I've already set for them on the next album. It was hard picking out my favorite tracks but here are the top 3:

"Tell That Mick He Just Made My List Of Things To Do Today" - A GREAT opener. I love the chorus - Let's play this game called "when you catch fire" / I wouldn't piss to put you out / Stop burning bridges and drive off of them / So I can forget about you - The guitar playing is awesome making it one of my favorite songs.

"Sending Postcards From A Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here)" - I knew this would be an awesome song when i heard the riff. I love when they sing "I will sever the tie, sever the tie with you." Just give this song a try, it's already been stuck in my head for a week.

"The Pros And Cons Of Breathing" - Lots of energy in this song, especially in the main line "I wish that I was as invisible as you make me feel..." These are my favorite group of lyrics on the CD.

Like I said, even though these are my top 3, all of the songs deserve your listen. Trust me, get this CD. It won't be leaving your stereo for a long time.

I hate a lot of things about emo and punk lately, for example: Coheed & Cambria, Matchbook Romance, and anything this kid Leo i know listens to....but bands like Fall Out Boy keep me liking the scene. This cd is awesome...a breed of The Starting Line, Allister, and Taking Back Sunday.
