Free Music Notes for Take This to Your GraveFree Music Review: Don't pay attention to the haters, Fall Out Boy sure doesn't Hit: 5 Stars
If anyone can make pop-punk a fully respectable and admirable genre, it's Fall Out Boy. They are the pop-punk band that so-called hardcore kids aren't afraid to admit they like. They're just that good. The band members have said it in many an interview, they want to make pop-punk music. They don't care if you love it, hate it, or anything in between. They're going to do what they're going to do. This album is an example of what every pop-punk band should strive to create. It's an album that contains no filler. Every song is a hit, something that is likeable the first time you hear it. But they're not just fluff that blinds you with catchiness and lets you down later when you think too hard about it. Pete Wentz is an MVP when it comes to writing lyrics. He tells it like it is in a way that no one else is capable of. After hearing the lyrics, you can picture him writing his own editorial column in a magazine just as easily as you can picture him writing poetry. Patrick's voice makes every song seem like it's the last one he'll ever sing. The band as a whole has talent that will make you bite your tongue if you're thinking of saying they can't play their instruments well. Take This To Your Grave is a pop-punk classic, an undeniable major checkpoint in the timeline of the genre.
Free Music Review: Fall Out Boy stands out among the pop-punk crowd Hit: 5 Stars
With the emergence of all the pop-punk bands of the past several years I have had trouble finding something that really impresses me in the genre. Most of it all sounds the same and isn't very good at all. However this release on Fueled By Ramen is different. While the subject matter is nothing new, as it's mainly about relationships, the lyrics and vocals make Take This to Your Grave unique. Patrick Stump's voice sounds very original, and thankfully, he isn't whiny. I like many of the lyrics to the songs on this album. They're clever and seem well thought out and they aren't immature and complaining about parents or how tough life as a kid is. My favorites on here are Track 6-Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash and Track-7 Chicago is so Two Years Ago. However, some of the tracks on here seem like filler and I usually skip them. But don't let that discourage you from buying this cd if you are considering it as those poor tracks are few and far between. The album ends on a positive note with Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes, which contains the lyric for the title of this release. If you are sick of all the standard pop-punk out there today, then pick up Take This to Your Grave and enjoy.
Free Music Review: Just Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
To tell the truth, I hadnt heard of Fall Out Boy until they were on the cover of Alternative Press. These guys arent very popular in Canada and every record store I looked at except one independently owned store didnt even stock the CD, let alone know who Fall Out Boy was. I ended up paying $22.75 for this disc at that independantly own store so obviously, I thought it BETTER be good. And it was. More so than I expected. Every song on this CD is a gem, you can listen to the entire thing without skippping a track. The lyrics and song titles are absolutley amazing and creative. My favourites are The Patron Saints of Liars and Fakes, Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy, Chicago is So Two Years Ago and The Pros and Cnns of Breathing. Patrick has a great voice which isnt whiney and the guitar riffs are great examples of pop punk at its finest. All in all, its a great CD. Fall Out Boy are truly a great band and they deserve way more recognition that theyre getting, ecspecially in Canada. Get this CD today, even if its for 20 bucks. Its definetely worth it. You wont regret it. Im sure of it.
Free Music Review: Fallout boy Origional or down right imitators? Hit: 5 Stars
Starting with the emo again, this band is far from emo no matter what anyone thinks these guys are punk to say the least they are very origional i mean who has heard of a song called Chicago is so two years ago? i bet no one! and yes although they do complain about girlfriends or friends alot they arnt emo at all who ever says they are emo is an idiot especially if you claim you listen to this band!!! the song Tell That Mick He Just Made My List Of Things To Do Today has nothing to do with emo or any other songs so to give everyone the picture THESE GUYS ARE NOT anyways off the emo subject this cd is awesome the point of this cd was to make it so all the songs are worth listening to and you wont change them to get to another song... and they did an awesome job of acheiving that, with a great opening song to great follow up songs, such as dead on arrival (not emo) chicago is so two years ago (not emo) grand theft autumn (not emo) and a great ending song "The Patron Saint Of Liars And Fakes" (not emo) makes this cd worth every penny! so yes a definate pick up~
Free Music Review: Pop-Punk for the guys. Hit: 5 Stars
I love myself a little Something Corporate, and I love the new Jimmy Eat World album, I have even been caught learning Dashboard Confessional riffs. But this is a different sort of Pop-Punk/Emo than we are used to listening to. There isn't the forced, packaged, ready to sell feel to these guys. I saw them in concert with Yellowcard (who I am starting to lump into the Good Charlotte/Simple Plan genre of selling to 14 year old girls and thats about it) and it wasn't polished, it wasn't pretty, it was balls to the walls. I saw that these guys were musicians that weren't put together to sound good they were just guys that liked to play music. The story of how they got started by meeting each other at a borders store in Chicago lends itself to this being a little more heady in what is becoming more and more a mindless genre. I can see emo/pop-punk being the new nu-metal leaving behind a trail of broken careers. I hope that these guys haven't gotten on the bus too late because they are really good and you should listen to them.
