Free Music Notes for Take This to Your GraveFree Music Review: Great Band, Great Record Hit: 5 Stars
I was very surprised when I bought this CD how much i would like it. It is classified in the emo genre, but I don't see it that way. It is just a good cd. I hate anything else that is classified as emo. I don't own the previous one, but I do own the next LP, From Under The Cork Tree. This one is better than it slightly. The highlights of this CD are tracks number 1,3,4,5,7, and 10. All tracks are great, but these are just the better ones. 7, Chicago is So Two years Away is my favorite and the best one on the CD. 3, Grand Theft Autumn is also a great track. This band may seem good on the CD's, but they have a long way to go to becoming great. they still have things to work on during their live shows. The lead singers unique voice cracks many times during concerts and it sounds very much offkey. Those are just slight critisims that can be fixed with more practice. I am very excited to see where this band goes in the future and how long until they are corrupted by MTV. Either way, this will always be a good album.
Free Music Review: How could you not like it? Hit: 5 Stars
I listen to all differnt kinds of rock, and I'm not one bit ashamed to admit that my favorite bands include anyone from Nickelback to Trust company to A thorn for every heart to The beetles (pretty strange mix up, huh). Anyway, I've been a fan of FOB since early 2003, and I gotta say, They are one hell of a group. The vocals are unique, and the melodies just stick in your head forever. Heres what i thought of each song:
Tell the mick...5/5
DOA...4/5
Grand theft autumn...5/5
Saturday...4/5
Homesick...5/5
Sending postcards...4/5
Chi is so 2 years ago...5/5
Pros and Cons...(multi-chorus) 5/5
Grenade jumper...3/5
Calm before the storm...4/5
Reinventing...(filler) 2.5/5
Patron saints...(sounds like Cute w/o the E) 4/5
So yeah, go out and support this awesome band by getting both their CD's. Also, if you like FOB and want something (very) similar, try The Academy Is...
Free Music Review: A classic debut Hit: 5 Stars
Fall Out Boy, that band that "so totally did NOT" lift their name from "the simpsons" (yeah, right) arrive with their *offical* debut in the form of a 12 track pop-rock explosive devise entitled "take this to your grave". Right from the opening chords, you know you're going to be hooked. Big hooks, Smoke-bomb power chords and soaring, melodic vocals make up a good 95% of "grave", so for those of you who aren't into diversity, you're good. Each tracks moves into the next with great ease, and because the tracks overlap one in other, the energy never stops.
Pros: Everything
Cons: I kind of wish they had added "honorable mention" (from "girlfriend") as a bonus hidden track. I would have liked to hear how it sounded minus sean uprising's crappy production and mixing.
Overall: It's a classic pop-rock album from a band that will be here for some time to come. What are you waiting for? BUY IT!
Free Music Review: one of my favorite CDs. Hit: 5 Stars
well, I pretty much found out about Fall Out Boy due to the release of "Sugar, We're Going Down." I usually always work backwards and buy old CDs before new ones by bands that are new to me. so I bought this before I knew most of "From Under the Cork Tree."
at first, I skipped quite a few songs, I don't know why.
but then I started to listen to all of them and I realized that there wasn't a song on there that I couldn't stand.
yes, I think lots of songs on the album sound alike. but it really doesn't bug me because they all sound good.
I don't know. I think the whole album genius, musically, lyrically and vocally.
my favorite off this CD would have to be "the patron saint of liars and fakes."
other standout tracks: "tell that mick he just made my list of things to do today", "saturday", "the pros and cons of breathing" & "chicago is so two years ago."
definitely worth the money.
Free Music Review: The Better Album Hit: 5 Stars
This album is far better than the extremely now-popular "Under the Cork Tree." There are about five exceptional tunes on this one, sounding totally original (at least at the time this was released) and I rushed to tell all about this incredible band. Then came the next album, two notches below this one, and all of the copycats (All Time Low, Panic At the Disco) followed once Fall Out Boy hit it big. This one is a classic to me, and oddly the last two tracks are the best on the entire disc, with #6 and #7 not far behind. Their lyrics are what set them apart from other bands, I cannot say enough about this disc. This is one worth buying in a store and keeping forever, while the newer stuff is not as special or memorable. In 29 years, the song "Reinventing the Wheel to Run Myself Over" has one of the most tight and unique melodies and choruses I have ever heard, and I have "only" heard about 2,000 rock albums.
