Needless to say this disc contains some fantastic music, but it's not for the purist or afficiando. What it is, is a great introduction to classical. You have to keep in mind that ALL the selections have been cut down and re-arranged. Also these are not the most challenging pieces of music, which (again) is fine for an introduction. The sound quality is beyond reproach! Try listening to a selection from Fantasia 2000 then quickly switch to any other CD. You will hear an amazing difference in clarity, tone and depth. Whatever recording process was used is incredible and I hope it will become more widely used. The only time there is a lapse in quality is for the Sorcerer's Apprentice, but that track is 50 years old now. Considering thata, it's amazing how good it sounds! The one real problem (and it is shared with the film), is that it's way too short. Some of the tracks have been cut down so much that it's really unforgivable if you know the original piece. I also wish there were more slelctions used. All in all though, for the audience for which it was intened, Fantasia 2000 is a fine addition to your collection!
