Free Music Notes for The Reminder

Free Music Review: A feisty reminder
Hit: 5 Stars

With The Reminder, Feist wants us to remember her, for good that is. And what a timely reminder and follow-up to 2004's splendid Let It Die. The Canadian chanteuse produces yet another solid masterpiece that's both delightful and melancholic.

The uniqueness of her pristine voice works well for the tracks. Several of the tracks have a jazzy feel to them such as the breezy So Sorry which finds Feist in an apologetic mood after the departure of a lover. Soon, the mood is lifted with the upbeat I Feel It All. Then there's the ode to her man My Moon My Man, the slightly achy-break The Limit To Your Love and the heartbreaking weeper How My Heart Behaves. 1-2-3-4 is a confirmation of Feist's easiness with jazzy lounge tunes.

At the end of the record, it feels like a feast on the ears. The Reminder further cements Feist's position as a talented solid-songwriter of the 2000's.

Free Music Review: The Reminder
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard 1234, I was afraid that the fact that Leslie Feist began to mainstream would just wear out her music, like most indie artists that make it big. It wasn't my favorite song, and I had never heard of Feist before, but I listened to the album in an attempt to find something new. I listened to some of the best songs this year, but nothing quite matches up to The Reminder. There is a breezy, natural feeling about it. It seems like many artists today try to deliberately be different, but in turn everybody seems to be the same. But the whimsical way Feist's pipes work paired with the soft acoustics and drums makes it incomparable to anything else. My favorites are Sea Lion Woman (the official name for it is Sea Lion Woman, but it's listed here as Sealion), My Moon My Man, I Feel It All, So Sorry, and Honey Honey.

Free Music Review: Excellent!
Hit: 5 Stars

It's a shame that it took an iPod commercial to get the USA's attention on this one. Leslie Feist is a treasure trove of folk, jazz, little bit o' rock, and all-around musician. She's a breath of fresh air, and so too is her music. I thoroughly enjoy listening to her soothing and breathy voice over her creative guitar playing. It feels as though she creates music for it to be felt, not just heard and paid for!

I have no idea why she entitled the album "The Reminder", but I have to say that maybe it's a "reminder" of what creativity in music _can_ be.

Some of the Amazon sound clips don't do the album justice, so just buy it ... the price of this CD is far less than many of the US artists' CDs, and I would say that the value if far more than what you pay.

Free Music Review: I love the music of Feist
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an interesting album by Feist. "1234" is the highlight of this disc. It is a fun song that makes me feel good. "Brandy Alexander" is a song about a love for a cocktail drink. I love the piano playing and her vocals on this track. "My Moon My Man" is a groovy track with a good beat. She takes the Nina Simone tune "Sea Lion" and makes it her own. She rocks on the guitar on this track. "So Sorry" is a beautiful song with a romantic tone. "Past In Present" is another pleasant upbeat track. "I Feel It All" is a track with good musical arrangements. I love all the percussion instruments on this track. "The Park" is a very soothing sounding track. There is something about her guitar playing that puts my mind at ease on this track. This is a very enjoyable disc from Feist.

Free Music Review: Is Leslie still "indie"?
Hit: 5 Stars

After the en masse iPod vid coverage, I don't know if she can be. Like excellent music? Like catchy beats?

There are some uptempo tunes, as well as the rest like "1234" (which are quite heavy, and NOT whimsical once you review lyrics) Her "song" will undoubtedly cause alot of folks like me to Google "iPod commercial" just to see whose crystal-clear voice is haunting our thoughts each night after we've watched the tele.

This is a great album to work to/ eat to/ impress your friends that don't listen to good music. It reminds me of Jeff Buckley's Grace EP--not in substance--but in the UNIQUE attributes of Ms. Feist's voice, not to mention the manner in which she produces perfection from her "instrument." Enjoy this talent.
