Free Music Notes for Felicity: Senior Year

Free Music Review: Felicity Fans Will Love. Non-Fans Will Be Missing Something.
Hit: 4 Stars

This CD is like an awesome mix a best friend made for you - full of eclectic artists expressing their own personal takes on friendship & love. Unfortunately for those unfamiliar with the television show, you won't quite connect with it in that way. But it's well worth a few listens to discover the gems you'd be missing out on...

As a fan of the television show, I welcomed this CD to my collection. My CD of the Month!!! It's been in constant rotation in my home stereo and my office PC. "Felicity" (the television show) doesn't get airplay here in England, but the music does a supreme job of filling in the gap that the website's episode guide lacks in sentimentality & spirit.

"Felicity: Senior Year" is extremely pleasant on the ear. Especially if you're into sentimental (though not entirely slow-tempoed), B-side-type tracks. A thoroughly enjoyable set for a rainy afternoon. It should (but won't) do well in the UK : )

My favorite track is "Perfect" by Kendall Payne. Unfortunately, the theme song, "New Version of You", is not a full length version. It's about 3:00 minutes shy of becoming a somewhat addictive pop song!

Free Music Review: Pretty good, but missing something
Hit: 4 Stars

I have never followed a TV series as loyally as I have Felicity. I've also never bought a CD soundtrack for any other TV series except Felicity. I enjoyed the first compilation, so when this Senior Year one came out, I got it too. (Actually, it was given to me by a friend who knows my love for this series).

The CD is pretty good, but I was surprised and disappointed that it does not include the song that I will NEVER be able to hear again without thinking of Felicity. That song is "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlan. It has come up several times over the course of the series, not to mention the fact that it was the last song played on the last episode. And, of course, the song's lyrics (combined with Sarah's ethereal voice) are perfect for capturing the romantic angst that was so central to the character of Felicity and the series as a whole. Why this song was left off the CD, I will never understand. :(

Free Music Review: Captures Felicity atmosphere, but theme song falls short
Hit: 4 Stars

Well, I also bought this CD almost exclusively to get the full version of the theme song. I knew the rest of the music would be good. But how disappointing to find out that there is no full-length version of 'New Version of You.' JJ Abrams and Andrew Jarecki blew an opportunity to satisfy fans and sell more discs by not composing a full version. Otherwise, I do like this CD better than the first soundtrack, which was sort of a "downer." This one has a better balance of songs and includes some of the best stuff from bigtime artists - you'll be into it immediately. So, if you're looking at 'Senior Year' for the theme song, just accept that you're only going to get 49 seconds. I still think it's worth buying for the entire collection of music and, hey, where else are you going to find even 49 seconds of the theme?

Free Music Review: Felicity's dirty little secret
Hit: 4 Stars

A number of American TV shows, like Dark Angel and for many years The X-Files, are actually filmed in Canada.

This soundtrack takes an odd twist, in that, while the show is entirely American, the soundtrack contains at least four Canadian acts!

The Barenaked Ladies should need no introduction. Chantel Krevisaiuk is also the singer of the theme music from "Providence" ("In My Life") and is married to the lead singer of one of Canada's best bands, Our Lady Peace. 54-40 have been a staple of Canadian radio for over a decade, and Maren Ord is another Canadian.

Ironically, this season of Felicity was not seen on Canadian airwaves until early May 2002, several months after it appeared on The WB (or UPN, us Canucks can't tell 'em apart).

Free Music Review: meep meep great!
Hit: 4 Stars

wicked album! this is by far one of the best soundtracks iv ever owned. i purely got it for the fact i got into the TV series and the music on the scenes seemed to really fit well.i missed a bit of the softmore year series but i watched it a few nights and then got addicted to it.anyway's! a fantastic album! really really worth buying, and if your not into waiting for things to be shipped normally from online shopping, order this, its so worth the wait.the best tracks in my opinion have to be La Cienega Just Smiled - Ryan Adam & King of Yesterday - Jude, also the theme song is so wicked, a shame its not made into a longer version its so addictive.
so..FANTASTIC album, FANTASTIC TV show, lets just hope they do re-runs of it.
