Among my favorite releases from the now-legendary Sarah records, The Field Mice's debut LP is a flawless specimen of post-C86 British twee-pop. Effectively synthesizing the more listener friendly elements of then international superstars New Order and the Smiths, the Field Mice present us with eight sublimely melodic tracks (the reissue contains a number of singles previously unavailable on the original LP) each betraying the sort of damaged naivety which seems to so frequently accompany fond memories of times long since past. Wonderfully contemplative and taught, Snowball instantly reminds one of a brisk fall afternoon, clinging desperately to the brilliance and vitality of life at the frontier of change, and while the album remains criminally underrated by critics, it is nonetheless a personal favorite and in my mind deserving of a place of prominence in the collection of any fan of twee music.

LTM are proud to announce the first reissue on CD of the entire works of The Field Mice, the cult South London band who recorded for the Sarah label between 1988 and 1991. Snowball + Singles combines the first Field Mice album Snowball (released as a 10 inch mini LP in August 1989) with all tracks from their first three singles. Snowball runs for 70 minutes, features 17 remastered tracks, and contains detailed biographical notes in the booklet.
