Free Music Review: Unsophisticated listners out there

Okay, admitedly, I did not listen to the cd, but, I have watched the movie, adn being a music student, I have to say it was some of the greatest film music I've heard. A man who can so masterfully weave ideas presesnted by reich and holst in the same piece deserves credit. The music enhances the viewing quality of the movie, and to the average movie go'er, isn't even noticed do to its superb ability to just "be one" with the movie (Not that is the music world, a famous quote is "No compliment is the best compliment," so take it out of that context and apply to the movie). However, the individuals who have put up reviews about the finiding nemo DVD who complain about the lack "melody" and vocal tracks in my opinion are unsophisticated listers. Movie scores have the purpose of enhancing the movie going experiance by heightning the sense of desired emotion of a certain scene. Notice how music becomes minor and low when "evil lurks" and major and hi when things "frollock?" It is because individuals growing up in todays modern world have associated these sounds with these images for there entire life, so when scenes of evil are protrayed in a movie, its would sound out of place to hear lots of hi pitched woodwinds playing very fast runs in major scales. The music isn't ment to be taking out of context and listened to on its own, its devoid of some character because the music was written with the idea that the listner would have some sort of visual input to go along with the audio. The music Thomas Newman rights is brilliant, but when writing a movie score, and listening to just the music, one has to realize the the music is enhancing something and is not the "soloist" persay. In little disney movies where are all the characters sing together in the film, the song or music has become the focal point and thus, is written differently. FOr example, has anybody ever listened to the "Matrix" score? Not the sound track cd, but the score cd. It is almost impossible to listen to on its own cause all it is is minor sus chords cresc. and desc., thats its (Except for the one part where neo jumps from the ubilding into the helicopter, that has some more melody in it). However, when the score is applied to visual elements of the movie, its fantastic (the hole subway fight scene between neo and smith for example). So, to all the people reading the reviews of the finiding nemo score and reading the ones about how somebody bought it for there kids cause the couldn't remembered how the music went but knew there kids loved the music but realized that there was only one vocal track and thus, were very dissapointed, buy this cd with the knowledge that its music made to fit into the context of a film. I actually loved listening to the music alone (I closed my eyes while watching parts of the movies just to listen) because Newman, as I mentioned in the beginning of this extremely long compliment/complaint review is able to mix the ideas of Steve Reich and Gustav Holst together. How genius is that? Buy the cd to appreciate the music and to soak in its implications as a film score, not for the kiddies to listen to on the ride to ma and pa's hosue.
