Mr. Fischer is the musician and Mr. Spooner writes the lyrics and heads the always amazing, legendary live shows. Without really intending to buy into a tight music scene, they managed to release a great electroclash album right as the electroclash movement was taking off. Their anthem on the album is the third track "Emerge", which has been sampled in a number of TV commercials, the most prominent being probably the VH1 spots that echo Casey's singing, "uh-huh, that's right". They also cover "the 15th" by Wire from their 1979 album 154. And just to show that they don't take themselves all that seriously, they close up the album with a song about fecal matter called "Mega C" that two lady friends of theirs had written and performed regularly(although at a much slower pace) at parties in New York.

The music really is brilliant, but their live show brings a dynamic you can't expect. Casey and a half dozen female dancers choreograph and unabashedly lip sync their songs. They also do various costume changes, and involve the audience in the show as often as possible. It's not coincidence that this band formed in art school because it's got performance art written all over it.

After experiencing the album, the DVD that's included, and the live show, it's very hard to focus or review just one, because they all go hand in hand. The album is good and solid. The documentary and videos on the dvd are excellent as well, and serve to only further your enthusiasm for this band, and then their live show seals the deal. This isn't just a band, it's a movement, an experiment, and a revolution.
