Free Music Notes for OdysseyFree Music Review: Amazing Follow Up! Hit: 5 Stars
From the very first song you can tell that Fischerspooner have learned a thing or two since #1. They've increased the amount of vocals, made less ambient more pulse-pounding music, and I was extremely impressed at first listen.
Just Let Go is a WONDERFUL first track, the music propelling you into some weird lyrics, funky guitars, and just all around fun. It goes on from there into Cloud, and on. The middle sags a bit as it sounds repetetive from song to song but it's definitely OK, as they are almost all wonderful.
The tenth track is a bit boring, the only song I skipped over. I think that's pretty darn good!
I hugely recommend this CD to anyone a fan of electroclash, Fischerspooner, or music itself. It's a great addition to any collection.
Free Music Review: Blazing FS Hit: 5 Stars
Fischerspooner rocked in 2001 with their #1 release which made 80's new wave/synth pop hip again based on the sole strength of Emerge and The #15.
In 2005, Fischerspooner capitalized on their assets and conjured an amazing album which relied less on new wave/synth pop but more on their personal creations of electronica dance rock. The superior Just Let Go picked up where #1 left off and resulted in a stunning anthem-like track. Cloud, co-produced with the famed Mirwais Ahmadzai works equally well with a familiar satrt-stop beginning, retro-electronic and a dream-like chorus. Other winners include the sexy Get Confused and Emerge Part 2, A Kick In The Teeth.
This is definitely a great electronic/dance album not to be missed.
Free Music Review: LOVE this CD ... Hit: 5 Stars
I'm new to Fischerspooner and was introduced to them through their song "Turn on" on Last.FM radio. I was immediately hooked and had to hear more. Checked them out on Mypsace and loved a lot of the samples they had up, including Never Win and The Best Revenge. I bought this CD to dance to and it hasn't left my CD player since! It starts off strong with "Just Let Go" and is easy to let play all the way through, though for dancing purposes there are a few songs I skip past. I hear a lot of electronic-type music and usually end up thinking, "It sounds so simple, anyone could play this stuff..." but luckily that isn't the case with these guys. Awesome auditory stimulation.
Free Music Review: Catchy! Hit: 5 Stars
I just can't get enough of this disc! Normally, I consider a CD good if it has at least 3 tracks I enjoy. This is one of the few discs in my collection to which I listen virtually straight-through! With the exception of "O", all the songs on here are very catchy!
The production value is quite good (for the style, that is - it's pretty heavily processed, throughout) and most of the tracks have a very solid beat. If you're not turned off by something that's more pop/rock than electronica, you should definitely check this out!
Free Music Review: The REAL #1 Hit: 5 Stars
When first listening to the new Fischspooner cd, you almost want to ask yourself, is this the same band? Their debut album was disapointing, with only a few standout tracks. On Odyssey, all of the tracks are AMAZING. This album is also much more space pop and electro. Many people complained about Fischerspooner's over hyped debut, but this album restores my faith in them. With stand out tracks like Just Let Go, Cloud, and Wednesday, you have to check this cd out. Hopefully they can escape their Emerge persona.
