Free Music Review: Fish's Best Solo Recording

A wonderful album with engaging lyrics and great music. This is the kind of recording you can listen to over and over without tiring of it. All of you Marillion fans out there, if you havent already found this, you must do so. You will be very pleasently surprised. The title track is a thought-provoking commentary on the state of Scotland today that you cant help but sing along with. Fish, the original front man of the very successful '80s band Marillion went onto record several solo studio albums. The voice behind their massive hit Kayleigh, Fish has one of those distinctive voices that can not be missed and which is clearly represented here.Internal Exile was his 2nd solo release and many say his best work to date. First released in 1991 he continued to have much success and from this album came no less than three singles. This 2012 re-mastered edition features three bonus 7" mixes.
More crackpot philosophizing and juvenile fiction from loony Scotsman Derek Dick, ex of Marillion. His melodies remain a saving grace, though. Nice cover of Thunderclap Newman's "Something In the Air," too. --Jeff Bateman
