Free Music Notes for The Battle For EverythingFree Music Review: A breath of fresh air in the today's world of music. Hit: 5 Stars
The vast majority of the performers today can hardly be called ARTISTS, so their work isn't art. That isn't true of Five For Fighting. I anticipate the Five for Fighting releases as much or more than those of anyone else, and THE BATTLE FOR EVERYTHING just could be the best yet. 12 tracks and they are all strong in their own way. The music is beautifully written, and the words are amazing. Imagine that, music where the WORDS are the focal point!...something that is lost in the heavy beat bed bass laden world of today's music.
The top song is without question the first release, 100 Years, but the other 11 are just as good. Songs like "Maybe I", "NYC Weather Report", "Dying", "One More For Love", and others worthy of playing time and time again.
Their best song will always be "Superman", but this album is certainly right on par with "America Town", if not better.
Five stars, and if I could give it more, I would. It's near perfect.
Free Music Review: Broken trees and elephant ivory........ Hit: 5 Stars
I too, bought this CD because I was quietly effected by the serene and thoughtful song, 100 Years.....I love piano..... This kid has a beautiful stoke on the keys and his timing is superb. I read that he had entertained the idea of becoming an opera singer at one time, so that explains the high notes... I love the high notes..... I think this CD expresses a lot of joy and understanding of our self-purpose along with a few of those experiences which will forever keep us in the dark. If you want crazy, smashing guitar kind of rock, I would not suggest this CD. If you want beautiful melodies, lyrics and a sense of complete retreat, this may be for you. My favorite song is "Maybe I" although I listen to the entire CD all the time and relish every song. It really is a masterpiece in its own right. This is the kind of group you will keep an eye on and run gladly to the store to buy their next chapter.....
Free Music Review: Dying For Good Music? This Must Be It! Hit: 5 Stars
Now here is a refreshing CD and DVD, which I purchased on the Dual Disc format just to see what it was all about. Besides its musical contents, and true worries about the much talked about new format, I have now been converted. Yes to the Dual Disc format and to FFF. Fronted by John Ondrasik, this band really outshines, reminding you of a younger and very talented Bruce Hornsby, a composer and pianist, that John has been able to emulate in this album very well titled: "The Battle For Everything". After all, insn't what life real challenges really are?
This is a well recorded CD & DVD following the 5:1 Dolby Prologic format. Songs like "100 Years", "Dying" and "Maybe I" really outshine, reminding you sometimes of the Finn Brothers from the Crowded House fame.
You can certainly buy the Dual Disc format, and with FFF, this is the perfect way to be formally introduced. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: Beautiful music Hit: 5 Stars
Message For Albert was solid and catchy, America Town was amazing, and so here on "the difficult third album". Again, it's a development on the previous effort, and it's still Five For Fighting. Ondrasik paints more vast worlds with his lyrics, albeit without mention of "Mr Merry" this time around.Personally, I usually find an album is better for the single not being the best track, and I wasn't let down with "The Battle For Everything". As fantastic as "100 Years" is, it can't compare to the upbeat, cleverly-melodic "The Devil In The Wishing Well". While the music provokes emotion, it appears to be non-specific to setting and so I look forward to playing this CD in many situations, from a long drive in the sunshine to a quiet winter night indoors. Worthy of five stars and beyond.
Free Music Review: Five for Fighting wins the battle Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is great, like all the other FfF albums. Once again there is a lot of great vocals and lyrics, and much piano. I would reccomend this to the alternitive and easy listening people. Probably the best song on this CD is 100 Years, it is probably one of their more "popular" songs, next to Superman. 100 Years is the song FfF is known for, and is on the radio all the time. Another great song that might make you want to buy this is Nobody. It is the longest track on the CD at 5:11. It is a great song about friends. Another good song is The Devil in the Wishing Well. I don't get some of the lyrics on it, but that is a multiple occurence when you are listening to FfF. All of the lyrics are deep and mysterious on some of the songs. You should definetly by this CD. Its worth the good price. I got it a Wal-Mart for $9.00!
