Free Music Notes for The Battle For EverythingFree Music Review: Excellent Hit: 5 Stars
John Ondrasik is a poet much like Jim Morrison. His words don't always rhyme or make sense, but they're all so beautiful and poignant and he knows how to "tell a story." This album definitely is more mature than America Town, which I absolutely loved. The songs are sort of moody, sometimes sad, other times happy and redeeming. The man knows how to write the human condition into songs more than anyone else I can think of, just off of the top of my head. It's mellow, which is awesome, you don't get annoying and repeatitve riffs like today's "modern music," you don't get slurred words of screaming vocals that make your eyes hurt. The man is a pure musician and song writer. He is entertaining and has written/performed one hell of an album. I give it my highest recommendation.
Free Music Review: Best writer today! Hit: 5 Stars
Like a previous reviewer, I have to agree wholeheartedly that this is one of those albums that you like quite a bit to start with and then as you continue to listen, you realize just how great each and every song on the album is. The songs don't all sound alike, like most CDs you buy today. Five for fighting has that rare ability to have multiple styles on one CD, and pull it off! - kind of like the old Fleetwood Mac and other great 70's bands could do. Remember how you actually could stand to listen to the whole album, without skipping over tracks?...You don't seem to find many albums today in which you actually like more than one or two songs. This is guaranteed to please. Truly a great musician. Both vocally and as a writer. Way to go. Keep em coming! Come play for us in Charleston, SC!
Free Music Review: Let's get back to our roots! Hit: 5 Stars
The battle for everything is a wonderfully musical album that really goes back to the roots of a true artist. John more or less is Five For Fighting and his passion for music really shines through. Similar to America Town, there are classic guitar sounds combined with beautiful piano melodies. One Hundread Years, the single from this album, is the type of song that makes you think, laugh and cry. Disneyland just puts a smile on my face and reminds me of many summers at Disneyworld. NYC weather report really shows urban flare to it, and just is a wonderful song. I had very high expecations after America Town for this album, and John delivered 1,000 fold. If you don't have this album get it now, cause it is the type of album that you can listen to over and over again!
Free Music Review: Best CD this Year so Far Hit: 5 Stars
The first time i heard this Cd it was good. The second time i heard it, i liked it and the third time i LOVED it!!! Almost every song on this Cd is great. The song Infidel is awesome, great music!! Of course the song "100 Years" is already a hit. But I love "Dying" and "Maybe I" and "One More for Love" all great songs. And for a fun and upbeat song there is "Angels and Girlfriends" . Great song too!!! I hope this Cd gets a Grammy Award because to me this is one of the best Cds to come out this year so far!!!!!!! The best part of this cd is that the music changes from different styles so you get a good mix of sounds and it never gets boring! I say buy it and sit back and enjoy the ride!
Free Music Review: Even better than the first Hit: 5 Stars
"The Battle For Everything" is a tribute to singer/songwriter John Ondrasik's skill and talent. It is not like other CDs out there. The issues these songs deal with are not just love and losing/finding a girlfriend but real issues that the average person has to deal with everyday. The songs have heartening messages to them and are far from hard to listen to. And the music does not stay in one set mode but ranges from rock to country and nearly everywhere inbetween. No matter what mood you're in, there's a good song on that CD for you.If you've heard "100 Years" on the radio, you'll know that it is one of the most beautiful, meaningful songs ever written. The rest of the CD does not disappoint.
