When I first listened to Fleet Foxes I couldn't get past the fact that their sound was remarkably similar to bands like My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses. At the time, they sounded too similar to my ears. But I bought the album and continued to listen to it. Now, among every album I have ever listened to, it is easily in my top 20. And that is a very bold statement. This music will get in your heart and under your skin. Every song is beautiful, haunting, and expertly crafted. There is not a weak moment on the album. I found this on iTunes while browsing My Morning Jacket albums and accidentally pressed "enter" (which played a song sample) instead of pressing "back." Perhaps it's lame of me to admit, but tears welled up in my eyes because I was absolutely overcome. I'd never heard anything like it before, gorgeous, absolutely wonderful songwriting. I bought it immediately and cannot give it any less than five stars. I can NOT believe I'd never heard of them--it's a sin. Truly. I've never been much of a fan of the precious and pretty indie folk scene but this band displays a greater knack for depth in both production, lyrics, and their classic, timeless sound than any other band of their kind that I've ever listened to. It's a very inspiring listen and I'm delighted by how they combine such disparate yet similar elements as rich vocal harmonies a la the Zombies with earthy, organic, and yet, celestial, folk that calls to mind Fairport Convention at their finest and Led Zep III side two.Free Music Review: soothing easy listening

From the sweet tuned Meadowlarks to the soft singing and acoustics of White winter hymnal, Fleet Foxes shows me songs and styles that I haven't enjoyed in a long time. Fleet Foxes is the one of the best albums I have listened to all year. The songs are so relaxing, I just forget about everything and let myself be sucked into the sweet melodies and voices. I've listened to this album at least once a week for the past year and a half. I'm normally one to get bored pretty easily so this is quite a feat. It's organic, shiver-inducing music. If you like things that are beautiful & pensive this will definitely be for you. Everyone I've introduced Fleet Foxes to thus far has loved them and I find negative reviews pretty puzzling. I guess if you're more into, say, Slip Knot than maybe don't bother. You can't please everyone all the time.
