I own only two Fleetwood Mac CDs, this and Rumours. I have heard the whole album of Tango In The Night and highlights from their self-titled album, The Dance, and Tust. As a comparison, this is better than Tango In The Night, but not as good as Rumours. I think Lidsey is one of the best and most underated guitar players ever. Mick Fleetwood IS THE BEST drummer ever and John McVie is a great bass player. A lot of people don't like this because Christine McVie retired from music. Sorry to break it to you, but she was not one of the original members. She was a very talented singer and songwriter, but every person that is currently in the band could quit, except Mick Fleetwood, and there would still be Fleetwood Mac. What's The World Coming To- showcases Lindsey's vocals and has a sort of country twist to it. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave- a great song and I agree with their opinion in it. I appreciate artist like the Dixie Chicks and John Mellencamp who will use their freedom of speech Illume (9/11)- Stevie sounds better than ever on this tribute to the 9-11 victims. Thrown Down- very good song Miranda- the guitar on this is kind of like Never Going Back Again off Rumours. Red Rover- I like this sounds like it could come off of a U2 album. Say You Will- Best song on album Peacekeeper- the first single off the album and is a awesome song Come- I enjoy the verses and the guitar solo, but this song could have done withou the rap-metal chorus Smile At You- fun song Running Through The Garden- this is the way pop should be Silver Girl- reminds me of Gold Dust Woman off of Rumours. Great story song. Steal Your Heart Away- Lindsey crafts a perfect love song Bleed To Love Her- originally appeared on The Dance. Pretty good. Everybody Finds Out- great mainstream rocker. Destiny Rules- I love this song Say Goodbye- 2nd best on album Goodbye Baby- Great way to end an album. Buy this if you are a Fleetwood Mac fan or a classic rock fan.

The Mac are back. I've been a Fleetwood Mac fan for sometime now, and til now my favorite disk had to be "The Dance", but now almost 6 years later, the mac returns with a masterpiece entitled "Say You Will". Here, its the original band minus Christine McVie- a great album, though I do miss Christine's vocals and catchy hooks. Stevie and Lindsey shine here - writing all of the songs on the album - and they sound just as good as they did in the 70s. The best tracks: "Illume" is a beautiful song written by Stevie about 9/11, the lyrics are touching. "Red Rover" sung by Lindsey is another favorite, in someways reminds me of "Tusk". "Peacekeeper" is a song that sounds like it should have been on "Rumours" - it sounds just like the 'old' Mac -- you can feel the ghost of Christine McVie here. "Bleed To Love Her" - a track which appeared on "The Dance" is here in glorious studio form, its a great song, again sung by Lindsey. "Come" has an interesting feel to it, interesting vocal effects/echos on Lindsey's voice - a new feeling for the band. And Lindsey's guitarwork is as strong as ever. Its a wonder how the man doesn't have such arthritis and can still play as good as he did back in the day. He is one of the best guitarists out there. Fleetwood Mac's talent survives the test of time, and this album is proof that the older they are the better they get. Fleetwood Mac lives for the music, and the music lives for them- they've put their hearts and souls into this album. Two other great tracks are the CD's finale - "Say Goodbye" and "Goodbye Baby". "Say Goodbye" has some of the best guitar effects - and really emits a feeling of sadness "Once you said goodbye to me/Now I say goodbye to you" sings Lindsey. And Stevie's song "Goodbye Baby" is the final track on the album, just a haunting beautiful sad song (some speculate it is either about her abortion or about 9/11) - this has to be one of the most beautiful songs on the album - its so moving it brings me to tears, "You were with me always/I'll be with you one day/And I who went to sleep in tears/Woke up in tears/And I who never said goodbye/As I slipped away" sings Stevie. Just an overall a wonderful album.
Free Music Review: What a pleasant surprise! Hit: 5 Stars
Initially I rejected this FM CD even without listening to it, due to the absence of Christine. I listened a couple of times " Peacekeeper" on radio, but I really don't like it so much (and still don't). I'm a great fan of FM Rumours era, and for me, any incarnation of FM without Christine, Stevie and Lindsey, it was almost like a sacrilege.
Nevertheless FM Live in Boston called my attention by the renewed versions of the old classics like "Never Coming Back Again" or "Beautiful Child", so I decided to buy it. For my surprise the songs that I liked was the new ones, so against my own fanaticism I decided to give a chance to "Say You Hill", a year after it release, and sincerely, has been one of the more pleasing surprises than I've received in years. SYW has become one of my favorite albums, and my 2nd FM favorite (after Tusk) which I already have long time listening at least 3 songs daily. Reading the other posts by users, the critics go mainly to the length or they label it as "over-produced album".
I just want to say something about it: I don't believe that I'm blinded by the fanaticism, since the very first time that I listening to it, my attitude was to rejected it, but I was captivated immediately by each track. Here you could find greatest Lindsey's songs like "What's The World Coming to" "Steal your Heart Away", "Red Rover", "Morrow" (one of my favorites) and "Bleed to Love Her" that I waited more than 7 years to listen to this studio version and I notice that was incluided in SYW after I bought it! (what a loser). But the true jewels of this album are the Stevie's songs like "Destiny Rules", "Running Through The Garden", "Illumine", "Goodbye Baby" and my favorite "Thrown Down", which was initially conceived for her solo effort "Trouble in Shangri-La". SYW has created a great impact on me, make really happy everytime that I listen to it and has made me dust my old FM records and make me interest in Stevie's and Lindsey solo work. I recommend 100% for FM fans and no fans.
Free Music Review: Welcome Back, Mac Hit: 5 Stars
It's been a long time coming. Fleetwood Mac fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Say You Will, and it has finally arrived. Was it worth the wait? You better believe it. Aside from a couple of new tracks included in 1997's reunion The Dance, Mac fans have been in limbo since 1987's Tango in the Night. It's great to hear these timeless rockers belting it out once again with the sound that made them famous so long ago. Minus keyboardist Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac has returned to the Buckingham/Nicks basics that brought the band to frenzied heights in the seventies. Stevie Nicks' unmistakable voice is just as haunting now on songs like "Illume," a 9-11 tribute, and "Thrown Down." She has replaced much of her mysticism with pure rock on this album, and the results are fabulous. "Running Through the Garden" and "Everybody Finds Out" are tracks a Nicks fan won't want to miss. Lindsey Buckingham proves again why he is the king of experimentation, as somewhat eccentric tracks like "Murrow Turning Over in his Grave" and "Come" demonstrate. Buckingham's style can take some getting used to, but his amazing guitar work is nothing to dismiss. Other tracks like "Bleed to Love Her" and "What's the World Coming To" are quite radio friendly and quickly addicting. And through it all, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie remain the solid, enthusiastic rhythm section that complements the in-your-face presence of both Buckingham and Nicks. The absense of Christine McVie and her keyboards is apparent from the lack of signature pop love songs; however the title track "Say You Will," penned by Nicks, has a catchy sound reminiscent of McVie at her best, perhaps in tribute to her. A mistake would be comparing this album to Rumours; twenty-six years later would put these musicians in a different place entirely. It is quite possible Nicks is not singing about Buckingham and vice versa. Then again, it wouldn't hurt if the soap opera did rage on. I don't think the fans would mind a bit.
Free Music Review: Say you will to Fleetwood Mac!!! Hit: 5 Stars
First off let me say that I am a big fan of the way Lindsey Buckingham can craft tunes. With striking lush vocals and intricate guitar parts he is appreciated by many a fan and deserves much respect for putting this disc together. That said however, no one in the current Fleetwood Mac is dragging their feet either. Stevie has written some great songs for this album and her delivery is strong and heart felt. The grooves that John McVie and Mick Fleetwood assemble could make the most lethargic drone tap their feet in joy, ie; the title track 'Say you Will'. There's alot of music on this disc with eighteen songs clocking in over 76 minutes. Most of the songs are stellar while some don't do much for me, like the song 'Come' with a chorus that sounds like it belongs in a Audioslave tune. I felt it took a few tunes until the record caught it's stride. Favorites for me include: 'Thrown Down' a catchy Nicks tune with a sweet chorus. "Red Rover" is a frantic Buckingham gem with a bit of a disturbed chorus, the only gripe is that I thought it needed bass from McVie to give it more bottom. "Say you Will" is a perfect pop tune delivered compliments of Stevie. "Peacekeeper" is the haunting first released single. "Smile at You" is an understated Nicks tune draped in lush vocals and melodic bass from John. "Running through the Garden" I thought is a good uptempo tune but with a keyboard part that sounds a little too 80's like. "Steal Your Heart Away" is a beautiful sunny tune with lyrics "all alone we go all day after day/all alone we suffer oh to steal your heart away". My personal favorite track is "Say Goodbye" penned by Buckingham. It's some of his most divine guitar playing wedded to some of his most self revealing lyrics. It's so sadly beautiful you'll find the images evoking strong emotions. You'll have to hear it to believe song crafting is still this good. This record leaves me optimistic about the state of popular music today and points to finely crafted songs not marketing hype.
