Free Music Notes for Float

Free Music Review: Not bad, not great.
Hit: 3 Stars

The title track is by far the best song on the album. The melody is eerie and haunting. It's the only song that really stirred any real emotion in me on the whole thing.

3 stars because they are my favorite band and even mediocre FM is better than the pop crap that's on the radio today.

Free Music Review: Don't expect drinking anthems.....
Hit: 5 Stars

I love the way Flogging Molly re-releases songs that you only heard on alive behind the green door. There were some wonderful songs on there that I was excited to see done over in the studio. I am such a huge fan of FM, its hard for me to not like anything they do. After reading some of the other reviews I can understand the difference of opinions. I have been to many FM shows. We all love the upbeat celtic/punk beats, fun lyrics, and energetic shows FM gives us. Anytime a band does something alittle different it definately will throw a few people off. I just got this yesterday in the mail and I have not stopped listening to it. I will admit I was looking for that super high energy song but didn't find it. Don't let that fool you, there is still plenty of emotion and heart thrown into all of the songs. This is one of those albums that you will appreciate the more you listen to it and have the time to really listen to each song. It is a good thing to see when the bands you love are capable of not just one style of song and are really just amazing song writers all around.

Free Music Review: FM Rocks!
Hit: 5 Stars

My hubby introduced me to Flogging Molly about 2 years ago. All I can say is that Dave King is a great poet and the combination of punk, rock, folk and even country is fantastic. I have always loved the message of punk rock but preferred melodies you could tap your toe to and sing along with. FM does that. We just saw them in concert again for this tour and they didn't dissapoint. My favorite tracks are Requiem for a Dying Song, Paddy's Lament and Story so Far. You can definitely hear tribute to Johnny Cash in this album. Keep 'em coming Dave! Too bad the rest of the world doesn't know ye very well. Maybe someday.

Free Music Review: It's not party record, it's a great record
Hit: 5 Stars

Love this album as much as i love their other ones. Very good arragements of this songs, no a lot of screaming in Dave's singing, but screams in the right places, great songs, darker songs i might add, so is not a record to just party and slam, u can do that as well but in this one try to understand more the words, you might learn something, buy this, burn it or downloaded, just get it today!!! Love the Mollys and always loving the always great Bridget , great performer.

Free Music Review: Another Fantastic Album
Hit: 5 Stars

The first time I listened to this album, I thought I wasn't going to like it as much as the others. Some of the songs aren't as fast as most of the songs on past albums. However, after listening to it a few times, I am now listening to it over and over. It is definitely a more mature album for Flogging Molly and highlights Dave King's skills as a writer. You can tell that he's matured as a person. The individual songs have more variety within them than on previous albums and there aren't any silly throw-away songs like "Queen Anne's Revenge", which I hated, or whatever that random 30-second "drinking in the jail" song was... Can't even remember the name. The final track "Story So Far" reminds me of the beautiful "Far Away Boys" from "Swagger". My favorite is "Paddy's Lament". I liked "Float" a lot live, but it is a little too slow on this album. FM is always better (and much faster) live, but that doesn't make the album bad to me-- Just a different version of their music.

Overall, an album well worth buying.
