Free Music Notes for FloatFree Music Review: Best band ever Hit: 5 StarsFlogging Molly is one of the best bands ever. the only shame of this cd is i know here in colorado i well never hear it on the radio. get this cd if you like Flogging Molly, it's one more addition to an already great library.
Free Music Review: See how they all look kind of bored on the cover? Hit: 2 StarsHow it pains me to write this. I've been a FM fan for many years, and own every other recording of theirs that I've been able to find. I've been to FM concerts, and among my most jealously guarded possessions is my shirt from the Drunken Lullabies show in Honolulu 2003. But... this one just isn't doing it for me. I mean it REALLY isn't doing it. I've tried and tried to make myself like it, but it just ain't gonna happen this time. There's no sugarcoating it, folks: this album is boring. I know that all bands evolve, and I've certainly enjoyed the ride from Swagger (favorite) through DL, and the maturation of their sound in WAMOH. But I think this is where I get off. Thanks, guys. It was fun while it lasted.
Free Music Review: The next chapter for Flogging Molly Hit: 5 StarsFloat is different than the previous offerings by this amazing band. For me, each Flogging Molly album contained great songs and told many different stories. Of course there were the stand-out fan favorite tracks and the ones that were often skipped, but each release was solid. For the first time (in my opinion), Flogging Molly release an album that feels like a complete collection of music, and defines who they are as a band. All the songs on Float are great alone, but combined together the listener is offered a fantastic musical journey into the band's world.
The production of Float is great. Each instrument is represented clearly, and the guitar is turned down a bit. I think they were going for a clear, polished sound that highlights the Irish sound more than the loud, punk rock with a fiddle that was Drunken lullabies. In the end, this is truley a defining album in Flogging Molly's career.
Free Music Review: I don't get it Hit: 1 StarsDave King is an amazing singer but I just don't get this music. I loved Fastway so I must just be old school.
Free Music Review: Underapreciated, Excellent Album Hit: 5 StarsFor all the nay-sayers and shortsighted; Float is an excellent album with a lot to offer. Great music, great songwriting, all around great listen from start to finish. Flogging Molly continues to put out music that is thoughtful, fun, energetic, and overall rockin! Keep it up! Cheers and pints to ya!
