Free Music Notes for Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

Free Music Review: Album with a Soul
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of the Foo Fighters since their self-titled debut when I was in high school. I have always felt an under-current within the music and lyrics. It was as though the band was afraid to be too deep, so they would always change it up half way through. Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace feels like the dam breaking...finally!!! It has been happening for some time with them, especially pronounced in the two disc masterpiece In Your Honor, but with this album, it is like a flood. These songs are for soul searching and reflection and it feels like a pay-off for all of the fans that have been waiting for the inundation. This album stands in good company with only a few others that I consider to be truly remarkable.

Free Music Review: Best complete album since There is Nothing Left to Lose
Hit: 5 Stars

While I don't think any album can close to the genius that are The Colour and The Shape and There is Nothing Left to Lose, EPSC comes close. I agree with others that this album is what In Your Honor should have been. You can tell that the album flows better, has a good mix of songs and is reminiscent of the Foo's earlier work. But, Honestly evokes the same built up tension that New Way Home does. The riff at the end of Honestly is just awesome. Let it Die, The Pretender, Cheer Up Boys, Long Road to Ruin, and Stranger Things are other favorites. While I love a ton of the songs off the last two albums (All My Life is the best rocker of all), this ALBUM captures a lot of what turned me on to the Foos in the first place.

Free Music Review: Going back to the Foo debut, while still moving forward
Hit: 5 Stars

It's been a while since I've listened to a new album, over and over again. I'm a huge fan of the Foo's debut album, which is still my favorite of all the Foo albums. This one, for me, takes second only to the debut.

My favorite track on the Album is "Let it Die." To me, the track seems to channel the souls of Genesis and YES, and it definitely works. I'm not an audiophile, and I'm sure I lack the proper vocabulary to do this Album justice, but just let me say that the entire album is more than satisfying, and extremely listenable. A welcome return to the roots of Foo, after what I felt to be a sub par outing on the last double-album (so sub par that I can't even remember the name of it).

Free Music Review: A Return to Form
Hit: 5 Stars

I was not the biggest fan of In Your Honor, so when this hit the shelves, I was hoping it would not be in the vein of that album. It sure isn't. This is a nice blend of the sound like One By One and There Is Nothing Left To Loose. Heavy and fast with a few slowed down songs. Sure, they released the first track "The Pretender" as the first single, usually a sign of failure of an album. That track is strong, but so is the rest of the album. Let it die, erase/replace, and the ballad of beaconsfield miners are all great tracks. Well mixed, and sorted in order. A must have for any FOO FAN, or good intro to what the Foo fighters have been doing for over 10 years now. buy this album

Free Music Review: 'Foo'king fantastic, no 'Foo'ling
Hit: 5 Stars

I admit it, at one time I was one who thought of Dave Grohl as someone who rocked hard, too, hard for me personally.

Until I gave this album a chance.

Nice, real nice. Less of a head banger than what I had heard in prior years. I like the mellower side of Dave.
I think having a family and kids has sweetened him up a tad bit and I'm digging the change.

This CD will give you a nice combo of softer tunes mixed with a few more serious rockin songs reminiscent of past material one might expect from the Foo's..

Favorite Tracks: Home, Come Alive, Stranger Things have Happened, But, Honestly & Ballad of Beaconsfield a gorgeous song.
