Free Music Review: Homage to my hometown heros
Hit: 5 Stars

First of all anyone that says they dont like the format is lying..or at least i think they are cuz i cant understand how anyone can not like this album...its so catchy. And it just so happens i live right smack dab in the middle of were all the band memebers grew up....GLENDALE...in fact i live so close that im currently attending the highschool that half of them went to so there REALLY a local band to me and u have to respect ur local bands like the format.

Honest to god this cd is breathtaking from start to finish. The first 5 seconds to the song "The first single" just lifts ur mood so much. The cd is chucked full of catchy lyrics with witty guitar riffs weaved in.Also Nate(Singer) has got to have one of the greatest voices ive ever heard.

IVe also had the privilage to meet these guys(its not hard to since there so local)and i have to say they are hands down one of the nicest people ive ever met in my life. They even go on the internet and talk to there fans/friends forever. Its also a privilage to live in Az cuz they perform here at least once a month wich is great.

Best Tracks:Ehhh all of them are good but since i do this section in all my reviews i have to probably pick "The First Single" wich is such a mood setter for anything. And the amazing "On Your Porch" where Nate pours his soul into the beautiful song. But my favirote has got to be "A Save Situation" my band's name is a line from that song...also theres a bootleg of them playing that song acoustic wich i think is better than the album version.

Bottom Line:Recommended for anyone with an open mind...I can sit and listen to cradle of filth(one of my fav. bands) or Avenged Sevenfold and then i can pop this in and sing along to it.My Point?Have an open mind and dont dismiss these guys just because they are poppy and radio-friendly.

Free Music Review: Perfect
Hit: 5 Stars

Yep, I love this band. I first saw them live well over a year ago, and have been addicted ever since. There is something about how the Format says exactly how you feel but can't quite express on your own...there has always been something in their words that I can relate to. Some of their stuff is catchy and fun, and some is meaningful and goes straight to the core. And this is one of the few cd's I own where I like every single song. Here's the breakdown -

1) The First Single - 10/10...great beat, great lyrics, not much else I can say.
2) Wait wait wait - 9/10
3) Give it Up - 7/10...I actually like the acoustic version a lot better...not a big fan of the tuba in this one, but it's still a great song.
4) Tie The Rope - 10/10...I love the "whisper it once..." part.
5) Tune Out - 9/10...yeah, I'm sure everyone knows what they're talking about in this one.
6) I'm Ready, I am - 9/10...Another great one, Nate's voice really shines.
7) On your Porch - 10/10...Absolutely beautiful, exactly the way love should be.
8) Oh I forget the name of this song, and I am too lazy to go in my room ans check, but I'd give it 8/10.
9) A Mess to be Made - 11/10...Hands down my favorite song on the album.
10) Let's Make This Moment a Crime - 10/10...This was my favorite song off the EP, it's gorgeous.
11) Forgot the name of this one too...but it's great, and it's a really good 'live' song...9/10 (I love the part that goes, "and as for you, you spin a story like a spider spins a web."
12) A Save Situation - 10/10...Hahaha I love the jibe at Glendale. Tempe represent! Short but sweet.

Buy this CD and support this amazing band.

Free Music Review: Effortlessly Perfect Pop for All Tastes.
Hit: 5 Stars

Some coldhearted critics might dismiss the Format's excessively cathcy brand of pop rock for being too unoriginal or the lyrics for not having enough depth, but that would be missing the point entirely.

The Format, like tour mate Rocket Summer, are one of the few bands out today who drop the pretensions of emo and mainstream rock. Instead of jumping around on stage and spining their guitars around their torsos desperately hoping to suck every bit of life out of dead trends, the Format stop trying so hard to be a rock band and in the process gracefully bestow upon listeners the perfect set of pop songs. These gems are great in the way Kool-Aid and spinning in your chair until dizzy are great, because they're just fun.

These guys illustrate what pop music really is: not a three second loop with a constantly repeated chorus that's forced until every teenage kid in America is bound to find it "catchy." No, the gentlemen of the Format craft their songs in a way that is anything but a cheap marketing ploy.

It's happy, drum on your steering wheel, tap your toe, sing-along genius. All areas of the album's track are packed full of simple, yet undeniable hooks that will stay with you and remain fresh through the countless listens that are guaranteed to follow. They are one of the few artists that could use shakers, hand claps, tuba and tambourine in one song and pull it off flawlessly.

Think Phantom Planet, Rocket Summer, or maybe even Ben Folds. Whoever you think they sound like isn't important; this is music at it's best: for the people, not the critics. It's pure, joyful escapism that leaves behind the harshness of the world outside and the troubles of your day.

Free Music Review: Follows a Fine Format!
Hit: 5 Stars

Uh, i'm not really a big fan of slow music, but I have to say this is one of the best bands I have ever heard of. The music is great and actually fits the lyrics. So it's not all fast music with calm lyrics. The lead singer has a good voice that goes along great with the music. I just saw them in concert and it was great. They actually where on of the few bands I've seen in concert that has been better then on CD. I'd give this brilliant masterpice 10 stars, but I only can give it 5. Don't let anyone talk you out of this band, they're great. You don't even have to like quiet rock to enjoy it. Heres what I think of the songs.

1) The First Single: The absolute best song on the album, proboly top 5 rock songs Ive ever heard. 5/5

2) Wait, Wait, Wait: A great song with a great melody. 5/5

3) Give it Up: A little slow, but thats what your paying for, right. 4.5/ 5

4) Tie the Rope: Second best on the CD, A bit more faster and a lot more better. 5/5

5) Tune Out: Pretty good, never gets old even though its slow. 4/5

6) On Your Porch: Very good, pretty slow though but enjoyable. 4/5

7) Sore Thumb: One of my favorites, a little faster. 5/5

8) Mess to be Made: Good. 4.5/ 5

9) Lets make this Moment a Crime: 3rd Favorite on the cd. 5/5

10) Career Day: I like it, never gets old. 4.5/ 5

11) Save Situation: A great finale to the album. 5/5

I'm redy I am- Very good cant really remember it though: N/A

Free Music Review: THIS CD IS 5 Stars

If you have never heard these guys i suggest you start right now! This band is amazing they are like no band i've ever heard. I have seen them in concert twice and there show is one of the best i've ever been to so they are just as good live. The CD starts out with THE FIRST SINGLE which was my favorite song at first and i couldn't stop listening to it. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT and GIVE IT UP are a little bit more mellow songs but they are really good just the same. TIE THE ROPE is my personal favorite off the cd it has a great beat and the lyrics are awsome. TUNE OUT is another catchy song that is upbeat. I'M READY, I AM is another one of my favorites it has great lyrics. ON YOUR PORCH is one of the slowest and saddest songs on the album but one of the best songs. SORE THUMB isn't my favorite but i just love all there stuff. MESS TO BE MADE took me a long time to finally listen to but after i did it became one that i couldn't stop listening to. LETS MAKE THIS MOMENT A CRIME is a great song and it makes you wanna jump. CAREER DAY starts out slow but it ends up being a good song. SAVE SALVATION is one of the songs i've listened to the least but if you actually listen to it its not that bad. I have been listening to the format since there EP and they are like i said like no one i've ever heard. So i suggest you get this CD and start listening because once you do you won't be able to put it down.
