Free Music Review: Simply amazing Hit: 5 Stars
I happened to pick up this CD after listening to it at Tower Records. My first impression was: "Hmm...sounds pretty good, and it's cheap, I'll just go ahead and get it." But then, it never left my CD player. It is one of the most played albums on my iPod. With every listen, it gets better and better. The musical combinations they used to create this album are original and so pleasing to the ear that you can't help but smile. It's sort of impossible to place them into one current music genre (hence their name, The Format) but I think I would place them most comfortably in that pop rock category. I hesitate to do that, however, because the music is so original and so much better than most of the pop rock out there. If you like some of those crappier pop rock bands, then you will be impressed and changed by The Format.
Free Music Review: This is a MUST HAVE cd Hit: 5 Stars
Interventions and Lullabies is one of the most amazing cd's i have heard. it has been in my cd player ever since i purchased it. i will not take it out. all the songs are so cathy i find myself singing them in the shower from time to time. this cd has amazing lyrics written by the amazing and talented sam means and nate ruess. These two are AMAZING there is no other word to describe them. they have so much talent it is overwhelming. interventions and lullabies if filled with intense lyrics that tend to go in my aim profile.. " i need a reason to let go, and intervention a lullaby" i suggest you listen to this cd anyway you can, and purchase this cd. it is a must have cd.. i am very proud that i can tell people that the format is in my cd collection!! visit www.theformat.com and get more info.
Free Music Review: a mess to be made, a canvas all layed Hit: 5 Stars
The Format is a groundbreaking and revolutionary band that successfully combines rock, alternative, and indie music into one triumphant album, "Interventions and Lullabies". This album includes quite a diverse collection of songs. "On Your Porch" and "A Save Situation" are both beautiful acoustic ballads with moving vocals, while "Tune Out", "Sore Thumb", and "Wait, Wait, Wait" are all easy to sing to as well as just being feel good songs. The strong point of this album I believe is its stirring lyrics. They are both thought-provoking and alluring, along with poetic. "Interventions and Lullabies" is a record you can listen to time and time again, no matter what kind of mood you're in. The Format does a wonderful job with this one, creating an enduring piece of art that will be appreciated well into the future.
Free Music Review: Wow Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is without a doubt my personal favorite of 2003. After purchasing the EP the previous year, I could only imagine what Sam and Nate had in store for us next. My imagination was not even close to the reality of their first nationally released cd: Interventions & Lullabies, an ecclectic mix of rock, pop, folk, and acoustic sounds. I was blown away by the combination of musical, vocal and lyrical talents. Each song has a unique sound and yet they all mesh together and seem to even tell a story, each song a new moment in their lives, while still holding on to family and hometown roots <i>"I need to get back to Tempe..." </i> :) I miss having them here for small gigs, but I wish them all the success of the world and I know it will happen in a matter of months
