Free Music Notes for Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos JobimFree Music Review: One of the best albums ever! Hit: 5 StarsFrank Sinatra and Carlos Jobim combining to create a masterpiece.
This is one of my favorite albums of Frank. The songs are very relaxing to listen to. All the songs feel like they should be on the album as well, no clutter thrown on this one.
This album is short and sweet - A must purchase for the Sinatra collection!
Free Music Review: Sinatra digs bossa nova!!! Hit: 5 StarsIn the 60's, when Stan Getz, Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, Eydie Gorme and a sleuth of other jazz/pop performers all got in on the greatest thing to happen in the 60's, The Bossa Nova, Sinatra decided to take a crack at it, and this cd is that awesome album. Jobim plays on the album, while there is some fine bossa nova tunes mixed in with standards like Change Partners. This cd is a 100% classic, and is easily the highlight of Sinatra's 60's concept albums!!!
Free Music Review: The tops of tops Hit: 5 StarsIf you're a Bossa Nova nut like me, you'll flip over this wonderful teaming of Sinatra and Jobim. It's so totally engrossing. A young man I know asked for advice from me on a very special date he was going to have. He was going to prepare a dinner at his apartment. I told him make a nice dinner; lower the lights; have a chilled bottle of wine or champagne. And top it off with Sinatra, Jobim and Bossa Nova playing softly. I added, "If she doesn't fall head over heels for you, check your breath because something is very wrong. I still do this every month for my wife and I. She can't keep her hands off me!
I'm 73 and she's 68. The romance is still there thanks to Sinatra and Jobim.
Free Music Review: Two Geniuses for Our Delight! Hit: 5 StarsBossa Nova started in Brazil in the late `50s. The "First Generation" included Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto and Vinicius de Moraes as their main artists. Their themes were composed focusing on "Love, Smiles & Flowers" and greatly influenced Latin America's music and even USA's composers.
In the present CD two geniuses join and mix their efforts to give the audience an outstanding performance.
Seven of the compositions are authored by Jobim and include some of his best.
"Girl from Ipanema" make you feel being at the wonderful Ipanema Beach surrounded by the loveliest girls in the world (believe me, I've been there).
"Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" evokes those wonderful starred nights from Rio de Janeiro, with all their sensual appeal, hearing soft guitar music.
"How Insensitive" brings all the melancholy charge of a one-sided love affair's end.
Finally Irving Berlin's "Change Partners" appeal an everlasting male fantasy: Will that girl choose ME instead of her present partner?
Jobim and Sinatra combine their voices into a bilingual performance. Seamlessly, songs unfold from English to Portuguese and back again. Melodies are soft and suggestive, an ideal stuff for starting a romance.
This CD is one of the Top Popular Music in my personal selection. I warmly recommend it!

Free Music Review: A DEBT OF THANKS TO "THE SOPRANOS" EPISODE 26 Hit: 5 StarsI diligently hunted this CD in April, 2000, after hearing "Baubles Bangles & Beads" in Episode 26 of THE SOPRANOS. Then I put wear tracks in it over the next several months. This is a great '60's Sinatra showcase. He's in great voice and style. All the tracks are first rate with QUIET NIGHTS being a standout. Need you guess which track was David Chase's favorite?
