Free Music Review: Is there any-thaaaang good inside of you?
Hit: 5 Stars

Frank Zappa, one of the greatest guitar players/composers ever, has recorded numerous outstanding records (Joe's Garage, You Are What You Is, Overnite Sensation) and some that are not so good (The Man From Utopia, Thing-Fish). "One Size Fits All" is one of the outstanding ones and is a must have for anyone that appreciates music that isn't mainstream.

"Inca Roads" begins the journey with an infectious jazzy grove and awesome vibe work. The very tight band handles all segues and time changes effortlessly. The guitar solo here is incredible.

"Can't Afford No Shoes" is a straight-ahead bluesy rocker.

"Sofa No. 1" is a stellar mid-tempo instrumental. Love the brief tinkling vibe part!

"Po-Jama People" always puts a smile on my face. I'm not sure if it's the satirical lyric or the phrasing of the melody, but it's another great tune with an awesome guitar solo.

"Florentine Pogen" again shows off the incredible talents of the band.

"Evelyn, A Modified Dog" a one-minute keyboard vocal thingy is quite strange but completely normal for a Zappa record.

"San Ber'dino" is another rocking tune with wonderful backing vocals.

"Andy", my favorite on the album, is a progressive feast. It flows from straight ahead rock to jazzy interludes into very amusing vocal melodies. The drum and bass guitar syncopations are amazing.

"Sofa No. 2" is "Sofa No. 1" with vocals.

For the novice to Zappa this would be a decent start but there are many others that are just as good so explore and enjoy.

Free Music Review: One of the best rock records ever produced
Hit: 5 Stars

One Size Fits All was the second Zappa record I ever heard and I have been hooked ever since. It remains one of my favorite studio albums ever, containing some of the best material in the Zappa repertoire.

The album begins with "Inca Roads," a beautiful conglommeration of some of the most pleasing sounds to ever penetrate my cochlea. The melody, sung precisley by George Duke, is a sunny affair with bright, wide, open intervals (like the perfect fifth from the 5th to the 9th of "...from somewhere out there)that seem to encourage the listener to accept the challenge of singing along - a task that becomes increasingly formidable as Frank employs his crafty rhthmic devices (like his groupings of fives: "Did a vehicle did a vehicle," "Guacamole Qeen Guacamole Queen" and the later groups of five and six: Did a Booger-bear come from somewhere out there did a Booger-bear come from somewhere..."). The frantic 7/4 section puts all of the cheesy 70's fusion crapola like Return to Forever and even Weather Report to shame. Chester Thompson is so much better with Zappa than with Weather Report. George Duke takes an amazing solo here. I think Zappa brought out the best in Duke as well.

Every track on this record is a winner. My other favorites are "Florentine Pogen" and "Andy" and, of course, "Sofa #1" and "Sofa #2."

Do yourself a favor and take advantage of the gift that Frank Zappa has given to you.

Free Music Review: inca roads version on this album is the best one
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is one of the zappa best records, compare too best band u ever heard, anyway the wind blows, etc. this album has the best inca roads version, although I have too many FZ cd's because I love his music an been a fan ever sense I was a teenager at late 1990s anyway one of my parents loved him an thats how I knew about him.

K enuff life story, but on the live cd's every song never exactly sounds the same where they 1st came out on studio versons.

Most of todays music suck, but I think zappa is alot better than all the lame bands like Linkin Park, Coldplay, Slipknot, Briteny Spears, etc, an all the main stream soo called popular bands that everybody likes.

Dweezil zappa is albums are alright but I thnik he should do his own style of music not cover songs like zappa plays zappa.

Anyway if you like instrumentals music an music that has good lyrics in it then check out zappa.

Half of zappa songs are no words music(instrumental)

Anyway dinah moe humm, dont eat that yellow snow, grandwa zoo, eat that question, oh no, black napkins, when yuppies go to hell, my guitar wants too kill your mama, disco boy, and so on..

If your a zappa fan, an hate all todays cheesy country, rap, hip hop(2pac, ja rule, jay z, etdc.
), etc. then get this cd as part of your collection, lol

It's very difficult to pick a "favorite" Zappa album once you become a fan. "One Size" is always near the top of my list, however. There is nowhere even close to a "filler" track on this album. "Andy" and "Inca Roads" are both simply amazing tunes that simply have to be heard to be believed - if you're not familiar w/ much of Zappa's music, these two tracks will re-define what you think a rock band can sound like. "San Ber'dino" and "Can't Afford No Shoes" are straight-ahead rock songs by Zappa standards, and along with the slightly more complicated "Florentine Pogen" let you know that this band didn't just play well, they ROCKED. "Po'jama People" is a more funk-oriented jam tune, with a great bluesy solo by Zappa. "Evelyn" (sp?) is a great weird little interlude between some of the longer tunes on the album - almost as if Zappa is saying "just wanted to make sure I still had your attention". Last but certainly not least, the two versions of "Sofa" are absolutely beautiful - great arranging, for a very soulful, yet almost regal sounding tune. Absolutely perfect. If you're in the least bit curious about the rock music of Frank Zappa, GET THIS ALBUM!

Free Music Review: When they let those suckas go-woah!!
Hit: 5 Stars

One Size fits All is one of Uncle Frank's finest moments. Along with his 'Mother's of Invention', FZ captures the ultimate fusion between jazz, rock, and Zappa's special blend of comedy and biting humor.

It's been many years, but I believe this may be the first exposure to Zappa I ever had and I've never looked back. Po'jama People had me hooked. Only Frank can write this kind of subject matter. He is so sorely missed by his fans. Can't Afford no Shoes is another catchy number that you'll catch yourself singing as are stopped at a red light. The people next to you will think you're nuts.

The song this album is most known for is probably San Berdeno. It's a great tune about a girl in love with the boy from the rodeo. His name is Bobby and he looks like a potato. If you have never heard this song (or this album), you are missing out on a wonderful experience. Some people cannot handle Franks 20 minute instrumentals, but this album is great for people with shorter attention spans. Inca Roads is an instrumental, but it's more radio friendly than some of his other works.

All in all, if you are new to Frank Zappa I highly recommend this album before venturing out deeper into more complicated works like Joe's Garage or Thing Fish.
