Free Music Notes for One Size Fits AllFree Music Review: His name is Bobby he looks like a potato. Hit: 5 Stars
There are so many great FZ albums. This counts as one of my three favorites, the other two being Hot Rats and Joe's Garage. OSFA is a very interesting collection of songs that have nothing to do with each other (except for the sofas of course) but all fit together well to make a classic album. Inca Roads' guitar solo is one of my faves from FZ. Pojamma people is awesome, pure brilliance with another killer solo by FZ. I have to say San Berdino is one of my favorite FZ songs of all time. I can't recall anything else in the FZ library that is simalar to this song. It really stands out. The lyrics are very funny and the guitars rule. You gotta listen to this song with headphones as loud as you can stand. Those guitars will melt your eardrums. I also love the Sofa #1 and #2. Musical poetry. Get this disc. You need it, trust me.
Free Music Review: "Inca Roads"= 5 Stars By Itself Hit: 5 Stars
"Inca Roads" was the great single-that-never-was, perhaps because of its' length (nearly nine minutes), perhaps because it was too complex for the musical tastes of the average rock fan circa 1975 (or even 2001). From the opening alien-funk laydown with George Duke's soothing lead vocal to the guitar solo (a solo guaranteed to confound practically every guitar-store-clerk-cum-SRV) to every other section that would take the maximum amount of 1,000 words to explain. "Inca Roads" deserves 1,000 words by itself. "One Size Fits All" deserves 5 stars for "Inca Roads" but the other eight tracks are worthy, as well. Listen to the entire thing on headphones in one sitting. Then another. And another. And more after that. And a few times. You may like some songs more than others, but you will not be sorry.
Free Music Review: One of FZ best albums Hit: 5 Stars
Frank Zappa was arguably the most original composer of the modern-age. No musician has anything on him. All virtuosos and composers today only wish they have one-tenth the creativity and talent Frank Zappa did. What I respect the most about Frank Zappa was that he dared to investigate the limits and boundaries of music more than anyone before him or since. However, I never really thought of him as an expert in writing lyrics. I thought he was a much better musician and composer than he was a song writer.
That being said, One Size Fits All is one of the best lyric albums Frank made in my opinion. The album is great from start to finish. I highly recommend ANY Frank Zappa album over 99% of music released since 2000 and definitely more so than music you hear on MTV or Top 40.
Free Music Review: A Zappa Collection Cornerstone for the Maturing FZ Fan Hit: 5 Stars
All of the tunes on this recording are featured throughout the Zappa cosmology. Buy the recordings of live performances, and you'll find "Florentine Pogen," "Andy," "San Ber'dino," all of these songs, recorded and re-worked over and over by a succession of FZ/Mothers lineups. I do not necessarily recommend this as a first FZ purchase; there's none of the easily accessible rocking music and totally comical lyrics that tend to hook the skeptical yet susceptible listening public. This recording is a bit more complicated, musically, conceptually, and poetically (lyrics-wise). This album is more for fans who are expanding their FZ collections after becoming hooked. If you're buying this, I also recommend you splurge and get the Rykodisk Au20 20-bit digital master.
Free Music Review: Genius or god? Hit: 5 Stars
Whenever I consider an artist, I first of all take into account whether the individual is a genius or a god. My criteria is based on the musical talent of the artist. For example, a group like AC DC attains god status because, although very talented, anyone that can play an instrument decently can play their music, but only they can do it right.
Frank Zappa attained genius status, and One Size Fits All is such a genius composition that I give it 5 stars. From the cover art to the music everything about this album is fantastic. Frank Zappa's musical genius laces this cd.
Black gospel inspired Sofa No 1 is my favorite tune to listen to.
Po-jama People showcases genius
This cd and Apostrophy showcase the best of Frank Zappa
