Free Music Notes for One Size Fits AllFree Music Review: The best Zappa recording! Hit: 5 Stars
I never thought I could ever enjoy any rock album more than "Joe's Garage" until I first heard "One Size Fits All" in 1992. Though lacking the delicous humor which is one of the trademarks of your typical Zappa recording, the ingenious musical composition one discovers on this CD more than makes up for it. If you consider yourself as someone with very good taste in music (meaning "Boston's Greatest Hits" is not part of your collection) but never really felt an appreciation for Zappa, try this CD anyway. Five others I would recommend are "Hot Rats", "Apostrophe", "Sheik Yer Booty", "Zoot Allures"( heavy metal alla Zappa) and "Bongo Fury" -- just to get you started.
Free Music Review: Masterpiece Hit: 5 Stars
This is the first Zappa album I ever owned. In 9th grade I bought it used for like 3 dollars. I listened and liked it but somewhere in college I returned to it and since then it has been one of my favorite all time albums. I could just throw it in the player and it just never seems to sound tired. Each time you listen you hear something new. Inca Roads has to be the most complicated rich song he has ever written. And how can I not mention Evelyn a Modified dog... you know the rest.. viewed the quivering fringe of a special doily... C'mon where else can yu get lyrics like this? I reccommend this to people who are just being introduced to Frank for the first time. Rest in Peace, Frank.
Free Music Review: One Size Does Fit All... Hit: 5 Stars
If you are into Zappa's mid-seventies, George Duke-influenced, funk...then look no further. This is by far Zappa's funkiest entry, and if you get a chance to buy Bongo Fury which was recorded live at about this time, the two complement each other perfectly. Andy, in my opinion an underrated song, is classic and unrivaled on this album. Sofa's 1 and 2 are both interesting pieces; San Ber'doo, for Californians especially, will make you laugh; Florentine Pogen is exceptional. If you do not like his 'poppy' stuff of this time period, you might give this one a try because it is still solid, and in my opinion, better than Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe.
Free Music Review: A vastly different form of fusion... Hit: 5 Stars
This album contains my nomination for best Zappa rock tune, 'Andy.' It is an exquisite song and read Nigey Mouncey's "Being Frank" to get it. 'Inca Roads' has provided hack bands like phish with an eternity of so call improv ideas...while 'Florentine Pogen' is perfectly weird, and would evolve to one of Frank's best solos ('The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life') Sofa's beauty can not be described, and I fear I am leaving some out, but I hate pedantic reviews which drone, so just buy this one if you have any interest in Frank's return to rock from fusion, creating in essence another category, Rock Fusion.
Free Music Review: Posibly the most Well-Rounded Zappa Album Ever Hit: 5 Stars
Ever since i was about three years old, i have loved this CD. My father was a big zappa fan and so am i. One Size Fits All is my favorite album, and quite possible the best example to set forth to people who are wanting to try somthing a little unusual. "Inca Roads" is a great example of jazz-rock twith some great marimba and xylophone playing with Zappa on guitar. the great use of satire in Po-Jama People and Florintine Pogen make this album even better.BUY THIS CD IS YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET HOOKED ON MUSIC THAT IS INTERESTING, INTELLEGENT, AND DIVERSE
