I can't call this my fave because there are so many Zappa discs to choose from but OSFA has got to be one of the best. This is Zappa at his finest. Lots of humor plus some of the finest musicianship ever recorded. Sofa #1 is one of the greatest Zappa instrumentals ever written (next to the "Black Page") George Duke's vocals fit the style of this era perfectly. Almost 30 years after it's release, this collection still sounds fresh & innovative. The complexities of the music on this disc will challenge even the most proficient musicians. In 1971? I was priviledged to hear this group of musicians in a small club in San Raphael, CA. They were using Pink Floyds true quad sound system. George Duke, Flo & Eddie, the Underwoods, etc. The only other time I ever heard such a collection of virtuoso performances was with Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" band.Really, I can't say enough. I miss the man and I miss his music. He was an articulate and compassionate person with an unusual brain. Too bad he didn't get to run for president. I would have voted for him.

creo que entre las genialidades del maestro frank, esta placa debe ser una de las mas increibles, donde alcanza el punto justo donde el rock mas cuadrado y el jazz mas sublime se unen...no hay momento que suene a desperdicio, no hay una nota de mas, la locura esta increiblemente sensata y mas afinada que nunca...para colmo, los musicos que acompañan a zappa no solo siguen al maestro sino que lo superan por momentos! un disco imprescindible para enterder a zappa (habra querido que alguien lo entienda..?)brindo por eso!Free Music Review: Wowie Zowie

Discovering this Cd was a wonderful day indeed! This was my intro to the zappa camp and I must say, I can't wait to continue. Beleive me, if I had more money, I would buy so. . . .much. . . more! Po-jama people is my favorite song, it relates to my everyday life. So many boring people follow me around, it's just a perfect fit. I am also a big fan of Evelyn, a Modified Dog. I can reflect how great intelligence hides within an unlikely place, and the ability to express is limited. Definitely one of the best discs in a long, wide and varied career. Frank takes one of his best bands, including George Duke, Napoleon Murphy Brock and Ruth Underwood, and guides them through a dizzying array of rock, jazz, fusion and other hybrids. "Inca Roads," "Sofa #1" and "Andy" are among his best songs ever. The presense of Frank's teenage hero, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, is another plus. Definitely one of the most crucial discs in FZ's catalog. Essential! Get it!
